Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Having a good guess that the two cellardoor.co Wildcard Red 6 packs are the Mamre Brook reds (Shiraz and Cabernet). At $22 haven't got me biting, esp. when the cab is $21 at Uncle Dans.

Hopefully some good quality Mystery Packs tomorrow and thru the weekend.

Nice hauls! I grabbed some xanadu c/s, Stella Bella and Swinney for decent prices. I did have some of the Clarendon merlot magnums in the order but got some remorse and cancelled them by phone hoping to swap for the c/s which is generally better (have had both). Alas, once I'd got the cancellation done the c/s went from in stock to out! Sigh.

While we are talking about clarendon hills museum stock - anyone want to take a punt on this?

2004 brookman cabernet for $40 a bottle. Its been in my cart for a while now, but i am not quite game to order and find out it might be past its prime
I reckon it is over the hill now. Would have been better off with 2009 magnum

Hi guys,
UMAMU Is having an aged wine sales (like forever), anybody tried their aged whites and reds? And what do you think?
Cheers

I've had a few of their older wines (Vinomofo and Cracka Wines had some of their 207 - 2013 reds at various times for under $30) and they were all excellent. All of these were (from memory) 95-97 points in Wine Companion. From the database, but are all sadly gone now:

2011 Ann's Cabernet Sauvignon $30
2011 Cabernet Sauvignon $30
2010 Shiraz $14
2010 Cabernet Sauvignon $30
2009 Shiraz $15
2008 Cabernet Merlot $13
2007 Cabernet Merlot $15

Bought the aged reds pack, had the 12 cab franc and 07 Cab Merlot. Both still alive and kicking, the cab franc a little on the lighter side and still seems like very young fruit. The cab merlot was in a good place, definitely ageing well with good fruit depth, length and balance. Haven't regretted it based on these two. Previous older wines from them have also been excellent

I tried a few vintages of their SBS a few years ago
All were 10 years old or so & were drinking beautifully
I opted for the mixed pack coz variety & keen to try the Cane Cut Sauv B
(From someone who usually describes SB as cat's pee)
Edit: cars don't pee?
And autocorrect attacks in your blind spot - cable cut, really?

I can’t comment on the 2004 Cab but I had the 2006 Brookman Shiraz a month or two back and it was lovely.

But I admit to drinking it because I was worried about its age.

It’s a gamble and I would only take that gamble if I had control of the time to drinking. I reckon if you plan to drink soon after purchase ands it’s past, there a good chance Dans might refund. I took back 5 for a refund, and when they asked why I told them I bought 6 and didn’t like them and the refunded the full 6 - not bad really 😉

TWE has the mystery packs for sale again. Seems they have increased the price.

The ‘best value’ probably the $40 pack with 12 bottles of cooking wine with RRP $272

Thanks qaz. Your posts are always well presented and the wines you single out great - to the point that when I even when I don’t recognise one I know it will likely be good.

I’ve noticed a bit of a pattern of you posting these deals only 1-2 hours before they end, so by the time we see your hard work it’s too late to take advantage of it - probably just the way you work but the more notice the better!
