Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Sadly getwinesdirect is still the only place Colonial Estate wines are sold as otherwise their spam emails and annoying phonecalls from Nambour are so so so annoying.
I note that the 2017 was still using cork, but I think the 2019 vintage has moved to screwcaps looking at the photo on their website.
I agree that sooner or later the quality of the Exile shiraz will drop to match the selling price of $25/ bottle, but I have been buying a dozen on and off since their 2012 vintage and still seems to be going along with consistent quality. Cellarable for 10-12 years in my opinion.
GWD has owned Colonial Estate since about 2010, so 2012 vintage made by them. Boozebud also sells them (not sure of the connection between them now, Boozebud nearly folded and was resurrected and still seems associated with GWD). I bought a 6-pack of Emigre 2021 Shiraz for $67 from Boozebud recently. The higher RRP wines are/were under cork, the cheaper ones Screwcap, might be changing now. TCE wines were never worth the asking price, hence their demise under the original owners. You can turn down/off marketing communications for GWD in your account settings.

Update: I bought 2006/2008 Exile for $31pb from GWD in 2011, some of the last made by the original owners, rocking in at 15%. And I'm not a big fan of GWD, refused to buy there for many years after an extended email run-in with the (in)famous Tony Sells and still buy there infrequently long after his departure.

If you happen to have spare Qantas points, you could do a lot worse than buying this on their points sale for 24k points. Or $50 Qantas wine voucher will take it down to 21.5k points

I don’t really like straight Grenache but as a blend, it is a different proposition. I had it last night. Terrific drop for something a bit different.

Here is a review by Huon Hooke that describes it a lot better than I possibly could.

Another one is Taylor’s master stroke for $34 instead of I think 50/60 elsewhere. Not suggesting it’s the best drop but there’s still some random prices

Yes, under cork. Two wrapped in paper and one not for some reason
This whole Amazon caper is a bit misleading. On the picture that accompanied the listing, it can be clearly seen 2012 vintage under screwcap.
I might kick up a stink with them when mine arrives.

My experience with Amazon is if there's any problem you can return it but I wouldn't expect them to make it right some other way.

I'm not upset about the vintage and cork I can take it or leave it. I'll try one soon and return them if there's anything wrong.

Just came across some wine deals from eBay with promo code APR15 / APR17 for Plus member:-

Grant Burge Filsell Barossa Valley Shiraz 2019 (6 bottles) down to $21/b

Leasingham Classic Clare Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 (6 bottles) down to $14/b

Any comment for this seller and the Leasingham Classic CS 2017?

Interestingly they have another filsell 2019 (12 bottles) selling at $41/b.

I think that Leasingham Classic Clare Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is an absolute bargain at that price. I have had them from Cellar One bonus pack and it is a great drop! at $14 it is a steal.
