Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Had an excruciating call from Cracka, would I like to buy half a dozen "Premium" C.Otago Pinot Noir. Reduced from $30 to $18.
So not premium then. Turns out it was Mud House, while ok, is not something I would buy again as there is much better pinot out there.
Honestly I try to ignore Cracka these days. Their bargains are not bargains, their search results often end up with no available stock, and their auctions are dross.

Cracka are a bunch of clowns. I stopped even considering them. My experience was placing an order which I then had to chase them up after 3 weeks as to the status. Only then was I told there was insufficient stock (why didn't they notify me?). I had to chase them up several times after that just to get a simple refund. Such a poor level of service.

0488 827 761 is one of the Cracka phone numbers. I think I've previously blocked another one of their numbers.

Was this over the phone? or in-store? If in-store, which store, so we can all avoid it in future!

If they have two vintages up, at two different prices, then being charged more for the lower-priced one would surely be a breach of ACL.

Click and collect from hurstville. I picked them up without really looking at the box (which didn't clearly show the year anyway) and noticed when I got home.

The eventual service was from the phone staff as the store didn't have any stock of the correct vintage anyway. I eventually spoke with a claimed senior manager who said they don't guarantee vintages at all and the website clearly stated that. He actually said that he suggests I go to read the website and call back if I still think I'm in the right.

I did raise it with Fair Trading who did absolutely nothing.

Raise a dispute with your credit card company. Say that goods are not as described. They usually rule in your favour. Strange that DM is not being more cooperative here, but unless people keep complaining and raising disputes they'll continue this poor business practice instead of fixing their systems/processes. And to pre-empt the naysayers who continually say "but they put a disclaimer" I say, yet again, IT. IS. POOR. BUSINESS. PRACTICE. Hundreds of eyes every minute of every opening hour could be checking vintages and updating head office or whomever maintains the website.

N860CR are you known at all at this particular Dan's store? I am quite surprised by that response - I have returned incorrect vintages to my local Dan's and replaced or refunded without question.

No, it's not my usual store. The one I usually use showed no availability for that vintage so I set the pickup for Hurstville that showed it in stock. I still blame myself for not actually opening the box and checking the bottles...

I think initially that a refund wouldn't have been a problem, however the first person I spoke to said they'd try to locate the correct vintage so I left them with it. It's only when their "senior manager" got involved (who was quite the douchebag I'll add) that it all fell over.

I'm most disappointed with NSW Fair Trading. They sent me a very unhelpful template response that basically said "sue them if you feel you have to" and then ignored a followup email.

Dan's have 2012 St Henri in 6s @ $71.20 at moment - I can get 18% off that via WISH/CR bringing it down to $58.39 bott - how is that looking?

That's the crux of your problem. I have had run ins with some of the staff there previously over incorrect vintages and refunds so you're not alone.

If you like St Henri, then I think its excellent value. If I didn't already have half a dozen, I'd snap that up.
Thanks for that Daver6 - positive responses are always appreciated.
