Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Just had a play on the DM website. The My Dan section said it had 10 member only offers. Well there were 2. The mango/lychee beer offer for $15 that ellen10 took up and a pale ale offer. There was also 36 "top offers for you" that was the normal dross on the public available website. The CR shiraz featured at $19. Using your card in store apparently gives you automatic entry into a comp to visit NZ, as does purchasing any of 6 sauv blancs they're promoting. Not my speed! There was also an offer to attend a tasting of "regional wine" (read Qld!) which costs $30. Pass!! Or is that wine regions of Australia? No info forthcoming.

What were the queensland wines? I get some good drops from Stanhope. Including one that my brother rated as good as any Rioja

Dont discount QLD wines. There are some good ones but a little inconsistent.
When living in the Hunter I took a ~ 12 year old Robinson's shiraz from Stanthorpe. The 3 Hunter vignerons present thought it was a typical Hunter from a good year.

DMs gave no indication as to what was on offer for the tasting:!: I couldn't work out whether "regional tasting" meant a tasting of wine from different Aust wine regions or a tasting pertaining to the local wine in each state. Quite ambiguous:confused:

I wasn't dissing Qld wine in general. I just wasn't interested in paying $30 to taste if the whole line up was from Qld.

Indeed I recall a blind tasting where 3 of us brought masked wines to taste and guess the identity of given multi-choice options. By chance they turned out all to be shiraz, all to be 98s & were revealed to be Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna, Penfolds Bin 128 C'warra & a-judged the best by all, a Ballandean Estate from Qld.

Crackawines.

"Gee we're excited about this mystery wine. Giddy excited. The excitement you used to get on the last school day of the year - that excited. Why so excited? Because this is one serious red. Made by a household name (one of the most famous winemakers in the country), this
super rich, super-premium South Australian red is literally dripping with silverware - counting a trophy, 96 points, 6 gold and 5 silver medals to its name. In other words, serious stuff, made in a very serious style. Seriously.

rrp $55
Selling for $27.50.

They had a similar Shiraz a while back which one of you thought it was the Wynns V&A Lane. This could be the V&A Shiraz- Cabernet? Although the prices are slightly different, and I thought both V&A's were the same price.

Dan Murphys ship from some odd locations. I ordered some Secret Champagne a week ago .. it still hasn't arrive. I called to check what happened, and it is coming from Balga, WA (to Sydney).

It'll depend on where it's available. Can be your local store, another store, or their warehouse.
