Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Email from Cracka:

'Hands-down Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon is my favourite Australian wine style. Few other reds float my boat quite as much as a full-flavoured, serious Margs red.

And today I've got an absolute pearler.

From Flametree Wines in Margaret River comes a red that barely needs an introduction - it's that good. Sourced from the famous gravelley soils of Wilyabrup, off a vineyard a short skip away from Moss Wood, comes the 2012 Flametree S.R.S Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon.

What makes this red so impressive is the combination of powerful structure and powerful fruit, all making for a wine that is superb now and will be even better in a decade or so.

It's isn't just me who likes it either. Tyson Stelzer gave it 95/100 and described this as 'explosively voluminous and tightly compact, a compelling juxtaposition that promises an exciting future'. James Halliday liked it even more, giving it 97/100 and praising the 'immediate and striking strength of the wine is its extreme length and purity, a siren allure that may lead many to drink it long before it reaches its plateau of ultimate perfection'.

I just think that its a great wine. A great wine that you can pickup here at Cracka for just $44.99/bottle (in six packs). Not bad given that it sells retail for up to $75/bottle!

Of course there is a down side, and that is simply how little of this is left - just 20 six packs. Understandable really given the accolades, but that means you'll need to be quick to pick it up at this price.

Check it out: 2012 Flametree S.R.S Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon.'

I visited Flametree last year on a trip to the area. They don't grow their own grapes, but they sure know how to make their own wine! Highly recommended.

It's only $55 from winery and $47 Winestreet.
Now it's not truly price attractive.

Anyone tried the interestingly named "F.U. Barossa Shiraz 2008"?

No but it's been for sale @ $50 for a long time with the occasional disc.;) This is however the cheapest I recall it being advertised. The quality of the wines on this site has dropped markedly of late IMHO, with perhaps the exception of The Colonial Estate wines from 2010 and 2012 which are eminently drinkable/cellar-able.

Totally agree, most wines are totally overhyped and overrated from GWD! The Colonial wines were a good buy but never worth the prices they suggested were their RRP, as is frequently the case when wines are massively discounted, there is a reason many wines get their prices cut savagely, and it's not that they were great wines in the first place (except in the marketeers view).

Bargain! Hope you bought 6 ;)

I couldn't resist getting 12 at that price. It seemed to be an in store special, I went looking for a different vintage at the other BWS in my area and none had the same special. I am very tempted to get more.
