Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

It allows the average punter to pick up the Burge for a bargain price when you average it all out. I think the Franklin is the runt of the litter this time. Chapel Hill looks good, Pepper tree albeit cheap looks good. I bought a similar type of thing with the Shadrach months ago and you really can't knock the value even if may go up a few bucks.

Thanks for your sage words sir! warmly welcomed

You sure it wasn't $40/bottle? It was $40/6 pack? If the latter, you got an amazing bargain :)

I paid $50 for the six pack, $10 delivery.

Got a voicemail message to return call to Langton.
What do I do? Stand firm and ask Langton to honour transaction?
Tell them the major retailers would probably honour this transaction and you bought it in good faith. If that doesn't work, threaten them with me learned friend Dr Ralph.

This is true. Maybe the quaffers are looking better value!
I don't expect any one these 6 wines to be absolute shockers, but I would expect the top 3 to punch way above their collective 'costs' of about $23.each. As most would agree, it's about getting the Big One for a bargain.

Would you be inclined to go for this over the $199 Mystery six pack plus a Meshach which they still see, to have on offer. I recall someone posting a picture of the seven wines but i cant remember them?

thanks!

I'd just about pay the extra to avoid having to drink the Chris Ringland, if it's anything like the 2013. The only other time I tried the CR shiraz, of an earlier vintage, I was also very underwhelmed. I guess it has its admirers, and the Dan Murphy's wine panel are consistently among them.

Do you think it's a coincidence that this wine is sold exclusively by Dan Murphy's? ;-)

From Wine Companion:
"The largest volume (by far) is the Chris Ringland CR Shiraz, with 22 000 cases made at Dorrien Estate and sold exclusively through Dan Murphy. Ringland's role is specifying style and grape sourcing, and if anything unexpected occurred, the brand would revert to him."

I'm not much of a fan of it either, but the Halliday scores for other vintages are 92 (2010), 94 (2012) and 90 (2013).

I don't think the other vintage I tried was rated by Halliday, and 90 points from him (very grudgingly awarded if you read his comments!) don't count for much, so maybe I should reserve judgement on the general standard.

I am not a fan of the CR either.
