Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Wine is a personal thing, so what's "better" for one person isn't for another - otherwise we'd all be trying to buy the one single bottle! So, I appreciate you're rating this particular one highly.
That said, I did an export from CellarTracker of my Cabernet/Cabernet blend purchases in the $0-40 range for the past 12 months - I don't buy a lot in this range (I tend to buy older/more expensive cabernets), but there's still a huge array of good deals. I'm sure others can chime in with their deals too. Given the range of stuff that $30/bot buys these days, I'll avoid splashing out for $30 2011 SA vintage with less than stellar reviews.

Edit: removed swapped bottles, and a couple I haven't tried yet.

Do you enter in your Cellartracker what you paid overall or the retail price? I enter cost after discounts.

I see you were not the one who said "avoid better to be had" however I was trying to keep the deal secret as when things get out like this and it's not meant to be the price everyone can miss out. I have protected mistake pricing on redemption flights I have shared with others on AFF like this.

I know wine is a personal thing so when I did my DD on the wine, actually drinking it, I posted what is a good deal.

This thread is Dan Murphy's and other wine deals after all, so this deal that was shot down by Sedimental, without tasting, doesn't benefit anyone. This wine in my opinion now punches above the 2 year old reviews that were not that bad anyway. James did say "otherwise delicious cabernet". Other than that there is not many reviews out there.

The wine is selling for $28.40 in six bottle buys online or $46.99 for a single bottle. Other sites have it for $49.09 TEUSNER Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 - wine online by cellar d'or (cellardor.com.au) or $51.90 2011 Teusner Wines 'Eden Valley' Cabernet Sauvignon

With Dan Murphy's I know many on AFF can purchase with a cash rewards scheme and also discounted wish gift card, bringing it down to $24.15 a bottle and DM100 gives free delivery as well.

I too don't buy a lot of Cabernet in the $0-$60 range however as I enter the price I acquired for after all discounts it brings up some interesting bottles including Black Label Wolf Blass acquired as bonus bottles through Epiqure, must have drank 2 of each of the 05 and 06 so good to see I have a couple of each left. Anyone got any of that blended port you got as an Epiqure joining bonus years back? still got one left! Above $60 in Cabernet including blends I have names like Bin 707 and 169, Xanadu Stevens, Jack Mann, John Riddoch, Woodlands, Yarra Yering, Hillcrest etc.

All I did was post what was a cracker wine at a cracker price and I tell you there has been some rough ones posted by those who like to criticise.

I just notices the Seppelt Moyston has 82 points on CT, crazy!

Would you be inclined to go for this over the $199 Mystery six pack plus a Meshach which they still see, to have on offer. I recall someone posting a picture of the seven wines but i cant remember them?

thanks!
Yes I probably would go for the $139 deal.

Unfortunately for you, my understanding is they dont have to honour a price that is obviously a mistake. Just like when I tried to buy some shoes online that were listed at $0.

Oh well, a bummer but you can't deny their wonderful explanation. I didn't think they would put it so eloquently but that's life. Win some lose some.

I don't know the wine so I'm not sure how much of a 'deal' this is, but just thought I'd better bring this to beefarmer's attention just in case :)

Thorn-Clarke Shotfire Quartage 2012 $19.95 @ Kemenys
many thanks for this Ste667, it had me searching through my tasting notes. I have a few of them put aside and for obvious reasons. I find the blend a fantastic wine made very well and always satisfies. 29th August 2014 was possibly the last bottle I had and I would like to add a few descriptions I noticed at the time, without going overboard. Considering I have followed them for a while, I can get finicky.

2012 Quartage - deep ruby, chocolate and vanilla overtones, smells heavy initially, thickish legs. Definitely full flavoured, about 9/10 for body. Stunning aftertaste, great flavour. with the only criticism was that it finished a little early. I mentioned at the time that this was a technicality and not really too much of a detriment. Very fruity wine which some may consider to be too simple. however, I tasted it when it was a damn baby at two and a half. I did comment that ageing should be good to it. You remember Delectable blue commenting on the 2002 as being lovely, and blow me down he reckons it had another 5-10years in it. Wow I thought.

So obviously I am a fan and the price here is great. Do yourselves a favour as they say.

I would like to add that in those August 2014 notes I made mention of another one of my favourites, the lake breeze bernoota. I would have had the bernoota within a short time earlier of the shotty, and I refered to the bernoota 2012 as needing more body for my taste world. This has it in spades I wrote.

Nevertheless, great pedigree from both the thorn Clarke and the Lake breeze.

How's the Allegiance Shiraz?
Very keen on trying that one jk so will report. It may be sitting there at work during my week off. I am always more enthused on trying a new higher priced wine than a thirty odd bucker reduced to twelve from the likes of My Wine guy(Cracka) or the 'Fo. Speaking of other wine deals, I put my hand up for a six pack of aged Ladbroke wines via WineBoxWarehouse. 2001's 2 3 and -04's were included. 68 clams for 6 delivered seemed ok for an unknown commodity. I am soon putting the restraints on myself and bringing out the older purchases. You have to.
