Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Was just thinking about this earlier. At 5000 customers, that's a potential max cost of $750,000. I wonder who out of Langtons and Amex is footing the bulk of this bill? (I guess it's "us" as Amex card holders who really pay in the end)

I'm sure the $1200 a year from each customer will cover it

Full refund now received to my AMEX card. But no other correspondence yet entered into. I'll follow up in a week if I haven't heard anything.

At this stage a full refund has been provided.

I've lodged a complaint with them re their misleading and deceptive conduct

Dr Ralph was there ever any resolution to this problem with Cellarmasters - I see that they are still advertising in the same way.

I got the refund to my AMEX card very quickly. I think I mentioned this before.

I did loose a $30 birthday credit that I had used for the offer (one time code).

After a lengthy and meticulous discussion of the relevant law, there was a very generous gift provided by Cellar Masters and an acknowledgement that I 'could' have been mislead by their advertisement - but I have been asked not to comment publicly on that.

Pretty sure that neither Amex nor Langtons are in the business of losing money. We're all, collectively, paying for these promotions somehow.

There's a fair bit of margin in wine (despite what wineries might say), relative to other consumer products. No one in the supply chain is losing money on this offer...

Different Drop have 10% off select wines with code HALLIDAYPICKS until next Wednesday, including:

94-95pt 2015 Bondar Wines Rayner Vineyard Grenache $31.50
95-96pt 2015 Ravensworth Shiraz Viognier $31.50
94-95pt 2014 Lino Ramble 'Treadlie' Grenache Shiraz Mataro $26.10
94-95pt 2015 Stoney Rise Pinot Noir $26.10

Same as Epiqure minus the Amex thing. Now I'm kicking myself, should've bought more. I think the auctions now $60ish a bottle plus commission!

was that only via phone/broker as I couldn't find a fixed/non-auction price listing online?

PSA - check your Langton's offer, for some reason the end date has changed from 12/08 to 19/08 so that gives you an extra week to figure out what to buy.

Phone/broker only. What bugs me is they have quite a lot of stock that's not listed online.

Yes, or they're slow to upload them - the 98pt ROCHFORD Premier Pinot Noir 2015 seems to have appeared online just yesterday iirc

98pt 2015 Serrat Chardonnay is/was available for $42, but only the auction listing is shown for it and the SV (PN is $42 or via auction)

Here's one using the AmEx CrackaWines offer:

95pt Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz 2014 ~$13/bt delivered after $25 referral, $20 AmEx, 8% Cashrewards

Deal ends next Wednesday as a consolation prize for those without the Langton's offer :)
As always, thanks for posting all these deals qaz.

I have a case of the 14 chalambar sleeping already, so had a dig for some alternates at that perfect price point. Any opinions on these?

2013 Petaluma White Label Cabernet Sauvignon
2014 Innocent Bystander Syrah
2013 Mount Pleasant High Paddock Shiraz

Innocent bystander Sarah 2014 is excellent. Normally available around $19. If you can get it for significantly less I would say go for it.

The 2015 serrat sv is bid for over $100 a bottle over at langtons so I dare say if you have a 6 pack you could drink 3 and sell 3 so you get them for free.

A little underwhelming to my palate, but it's a good mid range drop.
