Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

That's really smart buying, Vedder50. Seriously jealous I haven't got the targeted Langtons Amex offer!

This could be a waste of time, but never know... I originally didn't get the offer but I was poking around different links to try to access it. I think they may have released it to more cards when I finally got it, however, it coincided with me accessing my account via a different link in Amex Connect. Might not hurt to login and check if it's there.

I haven't seen any reports that it's available via Amex Connect. It's only been available to Amex-issued cards under "Offers and Places" on the Amex website. There's been two tranches of release so far.

Winerylane.com.au have $75 off on your first order with the code welcome75. They stock current release Amelia Park, Casteli, Eden Road, Warramunda Estate, and Woods Crampton at 20% off cellar door price.

Am considering this for the new releases of the Amelia Park Shiraz and Cabernet Merlot.. brings them down to $17 per bottle. The Reserve Shiraz and Cabernet would be $34.

Thanks for sharing - good way to buy Eden Road and Woods Crampton who make great value wines :) Note that it's 20% off single prices in any dozen

Anyone had the Eden Road pinots? I've only had their Barton and Tumblong syrahs which are good (available at Dan Murphy's)

I much preferred the Amelia Park Reserve Shiraz over the Cabernet Merlot from Vinomofo :)

I'm still using 8 of these I've had since the early 1990s, so there's no issue with their longevity. They help to even out temperature fluctuations within a day, but don't do much to more sustained changes, so if the place they're located in is subjected to extreme temperatures, the benefits might be limited. Having said that, bottles I've had stored in these in an insulated garden shed for up to 20 years generally have corks in very good condition. The only real downside (apart from the cost) is that wide or tall bottles don't always fit in the holes.

How much are they selling for now?

Edit: link to an earlier post of mine discussing these:

+1

My 1st growth and super 2nds from the 1990s are still in them within my cellar and have been fine :)

Would you recommend 389 2013 or St Henri 2012 - both are $75 at Langtons, making them $37.50 with Amex offer. Dans have increased the price of St Henri back to $95 and have 389 for $75.

Hmmm...I have the same card but on paperless statements. ******* enviro friendly options....

I'm still on paper statements, but received an email recently telling me that unless I switch to email they will start charging me for the privilege of sending me a bill.

The 2012 St Henri has some great scores.

The St Henri for me any day of the week. No brainer. However, that's my personal preference. I also am a fan of the 389. Two very different wines.

Haven't tried 389 in a long time, but have tried the 2012 St Henri at a TWE wine tasting and thought it was great (also enjoyed 2009 recently, but didn't like the 2006 drank at the same time), but was just wondering whether there was any compelling reason to buy 389 over St Henri.

So I bought the Mystery CW131 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 from winestar based on the original guess on Mystery Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 – Winestar 05 08 2016 | Tasting Sessions hoping that it was the Bowen Estate.

Turns out it was the Petaluma White Label. Not quite as exciting, but hopefully will still be ok.

The pricing isn't that bad, Vintage Cellars is currently doing $50 for 2 bottles BUT with $25 Cellar Shares...making them $12.50/btl.

$25 that you have to spend at Vintage Cellars isn't really $25 though, given their usual pricing and especially given how slow they are to issue those Cellar Shares. Call it equivalent maybe, but you can buy them in multiples of just two at VC, and you see the label and don't feel the disappointment of it not being Bowen, so they do have that going for them.

That said, I took them up on it and I like the wine. It is not an austere Cabernet by any means. A generous dose of ripe cassis fruit; solid tannins to balance that with a bit of savouriness, not forbidding tannins mind you, but I think it will improve as they soften. I commend this deal as a fine now-or-later cabernet quaff.

If anyone in Perth has the Langtons Amex offer and isn't planning on using it, I would be forever grateful if you could hook me up with the $38 St Henri's. :)

I KNOW THE FEELING- the $38- St Henri's are a bargin that I'm missing out on :(

All the St Henri's gone, well there's only 25 of them to begin with...

~80 bottles of Bin 389 I'm surprised it's still available, I thought the blokes on Oursteps would've cleared them out quick smart.

Plenty of St Henri still there mate, double check you're searching correctly?

I've tried both a few times since release. The St Henri is better at this early stage for me. They are different wines, so do check out Cellar Tracker and Vivino to get an overall impression and which one would suit you more.

I'd say both are cracking deals with the Amex credit. [Still green with envy! I've even phoned them up and asked for the offer. No joy so far]
