Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Just out of curiosity Steady what were your thoughts on the Filsell, or throw me a post # and I can look them up :)

With your professed enjoyment of bigger/bolder Barossan Reds this wine ought to be on your radar, W&D. My folks are big Torbreck fans, and they have taken a shine to the Filsell. When you can find it for $20-ish it's a clear winner.

Yes I have always been happy with Filsell....and usually pay full price for them.

Many thanks to my Den sponsor as it were, and followed it up using the $20 off the first purchase with...........
The Pikes Shiraz tempy 2014 blend. Look, it's not the biggest bargain in the world, but it does approach the Fo pricing model. Basically at $53.53 for 6 delivered, how could you complain.

I do remember someone previously buying the same wine as I have. Being a bit of a bargain hunter initially the 6 pack of various preium reds at about $120 tempted me. But I got put off by the st Hallets Garden, so it was a choice then of two.
The Coriole Nero 2015 was a close second, but considering all the credit card abuse lately, discretion became the better part of valour and I went for the Pikes.

However the real sealer was the fat boy review on You tube by a nice dude from America who gave it a thorough assessment. Holding his plumms and giving this wine so may swirls I almost got vertigo watching, his narrative was a very un-wozza and un-WanD like, yet I was inspired by this wine loving afficianado. I will look further into his critiques in the near future. While the consummation of my purchase wasn't like a tom hanks finale, with that arrow, I hope when these novel blends arrive I enjoy the first of my den commandments. Den's the breaks I guess.

And to my sponsor, it was a purrfect thing.

They were excellent value when Cellarmasters had $100 off - came down to under $20 each delivered (RRP $37). I haven't tried mine yet.

The '14 Filsel came in at $15.35 for me delivered after the CM spend $200 get $100 off, Amex spend $120 get $20 and 8% CR. Delivery was $about $16.35 but it tipped the price over the spend $120 so I was happy.

You mean this video review of the 2013 Pikes Shiraz Tempranillo? :)

I also could've mentioned [post=1525702]earlier[/post] that the 2014 was rated 90pts by Mike Bennie (Winefront) and 89pts by Huon Hooke, with Chris Shanahan reviewing it here

Have you had much nero or fiano from Coriole or elsewhere? I haven't, but am tempted by their reviews, such as by Philip White and Graham Hastings, though reluctant to buy a 6pk to do so

The deal has been available BEFORE today and may have been discussed earlier in this thread.

I think it's fair value (even better with the current available discounts like AMEX deal). But if you are buying just to get the Meshach, you are getting stuck with another 5 bottles that you might not want. The Meshach is OFTEN dicsounted by Dan's and at other retailers.

For me, there's only so much wine that I can consume in my life time and if I live to 125 I should just be OK.

No Idea W&D, not tried any yet

I'll fess up as mine arrived yesterday! I'll do a bit of reportage as soon as the enclosure has been wrested from its neck (packaging sure looks classy that's for sure!)

I thought the hipster dude was using the bottle like an asthma inhaler taking a hit between swirls, liked his unpretentiousness though! I pondered the Pikes but thought it might be bit light-weight for my palate so went for the SV St Halletts which was nearly as cheap at $63 delivered (got to love their free shipping especially to Tas).

Always a good recommendation!

Yes it's got quality written all over it, now to try it and report back....

Thanks hadn't seen it offered before. Guess probably better off waiting for a filsell / meshach deal at least would know what your getting.

Hi, there was a Burge pack on WineMarket a couple of weeks back that had a Meshach, Filsell and the Batch 01 in it.

Can't recall the exact makeup of the pack - i think it was 13 bottles in total with the Batch 01 making up the majority.

Haven't had the Batch 01 myself so can't really comment, but you may want to have a look (sorry, don't have a link handy).

Exactly one year ago this 6pack went for $120 which I clicked. ;)

A word of caution for those shopping on The Den.
If you buy the wrong pack you could be losing money. For example if you buy a 6 pack of St Hallett 15 Shiraz you pay $75 but a 12 pack is $90.56! So for $15.56 you get 6 more bottles.

This may be the only anomaly but it pays to check.

Faith Shiraz?

6 more bottles, but the same volume. ;)

'15 Faith Shiraz 12-pack is 375ml bottles
