Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Reviews from both Halliday (90pt) and Huon Hooker are not great! It looks big discount from their retail price though.

The OP OH sounds like a cracker

I have had both op+oh and rosehill recently although you would want to keep them longer before drinking. Halliday prefers the former, Gary W of winefront the latter. Personally I prefer op+oh. Both great but it also shows me how much more I love pinot.

I'd give the OP&OH 14 a big recommendation to buy. It's not for drinking now. Although it was beautiful to drink at this very young stage. The Rosehill 14 is not quite as good, for me, at this early point (still incredible, mind). But I reckon it will evolve into a better wine than the OP&OH 14 in the future. So I would grab some of those too. I haven't had the Iuliis Limited Release 14. But if it got the same score as the OP&OH 14 from the Hunter's 10/10 vintage, then I reckon it will also be a good bet.

For what it's worth, my Halliday 100 purchases were (through Langton's) the Turkey Flat Barossa Shiraz 14 ($47 a bottle, minus cashback) and the Xanadu Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 13 ($75 a bottle, minus cash back). I only got 2 of the TF. But I splashed out on 4 Xanadu's based Halliday's power comment.

Speaking of power. My business partner was lucky enough to attend the recent Mount Pleasant O'Shea Dinner. At that dinner Halliday said the O'Shea Shiraz 14 had so much power it could outlive the entire room and last 100 years. My business partner agreed. He said it was huge, and very, very special. So, if you have the cash, you might want to think about one of those!

What else are others eyeing up on the list?

Thanks.

OP&OH14 and Iuliis Limited Release14 are on Winestar for the same price. However OP&OH14 were sold out yesterday. This site has a section on Halliday top100 2017. Generally, I found they are slightly cheaper.

I tried the de Iuliis at the recent Young Guns event. I was a little underwhelmed to be honest. It's a nice wine, but no where near the power and structure that some other 2014 Hunter Shiraz have achieved.

Valued at $216.69 per case (6), this pack includes four wines from the classic South Australian regions of The Barossa Valley, Eden Valley and the McLaren Vale, plus one each from Western Australia's Margaret River and Victoria's Pyrenees. Each wine showcases their own style of this wonderfully rich, peppery and fragrant wine, and would make the perfect gift for the festive season or selection to enjoy at any occasion. Your pack includes:

  • Wills Domain Cuvee Delvage Shiraz 2013 – 95 pts James Halliday – this family owned winery is making a serious name for itself.
  • Eden Hall Shiraz 2014 – 97pts James Halliday – a historic property that sells most of its fruit to Barossa icons like St Hallet and Yalumba, while holding on to just 10% for it's own wines.
  • Kilikanoon Kavel's Flock Shiraz 2014 – 95 pts DMWP – Clare Valley icon, the 5 star rated winery is equally famous for it's rich Barossa wines.
  • Ulithorne Familia Shiraz 2015 – 96pts DMWP – Small batches of high quality wine is what this James Halliday 5 star McLaren producer is reputed for.
  • Peter Lehmann Lot #2 Stonewell Road Shiraz 2013 – 95pts James Halliday – Barossa Valley icon, the single vineyard showcases some the region's best fruit.
  • Blue Pyrenees Estate Dry Grown Shiraz 2013 – Established in 1963, this James Halliday 5 star rated winery helped put Central Victoria's savoury white pepper style of Shiraz on the map. With such a great selection of iconic shiraz in one pack, you'll want to be quick.

$120 for the 6 ... Looks like a good deal ... what do you guys think?

Steady, have you got any suggestions to purchase from Langton's? Thanks!

Amex should have a "promote responsible drinking" clause when sending out these offers.

Having the $50- Langton's voucher to go with the $350/150 amex offer my ideal spend is $400 for a cost of $200.

I am interested in something to put away, 3 x Mount Mary's at $405 or $68.34 a bottle after discounts - looks like a bargain.... Or 3 x Dry River PN @ $360 for those with just the $350/150, the possibilities..... Everyone has different tastes and preferences. 7 of the '14 MP RH would be nice to put away.

There are so many options and everybody is different. I was looking for some '15 Clonakilla SV before this offer appeared so I think I will look at a combo including that. Buying through the broker and spending more than $300 gets free delivery.

Hi Steady, What is this $50 voucher you speak of ?? I just saved 4 x $350/$150 to my cards and at the thought of more $$ off :)

Which cards did you get the offer on?

I wonder if worth waiting for discount code from Langton's, considering it's this time of the year...

boomy Plat edge + 3 supp cards

At first it does not show. If you log into desktop version of amex and click on "offers and places" its sometimes does not show. I seem to have to click " offers available for card xx_xx" and extra offers appear.

It seems I miss some of these offers because it does not always load when I log in. Once i hit " offers available for card xx_ " they appear...

EDIT : took my own advice and now the BWS online spend $50 get $15 appears.. it cannot be coincidence surely
