Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Thinking about this I'm bemused. Should the alliterative collective noun be a Cache of Command, or even a Command of Command:confused:
I'd go with Cartel of Command - whichever one of the 2005s didn't even get to experience the quiet cool comfort of Cellar 44 - from office on delivery to rear of car for transport to Poci's of Hampton to table to glass to mouth accompanying Ravioli Matriciana - the poor thing never stood a chance!

For those of you not following Winefront (and perhaps Red Bigot's forum), a national scavenger hunt of sorts has been going on there for 2014 Mount Pleasant Philip Shiraz, rated 94pts by Gary Walsh.

Like all McWilliam's wines, its price has gone up significantly, from RRP $19.50 for 2013 to $27 for 2014, which is meant to be officially released next month.

However, in late July, it was found that some Dan Murphy's, Vintage Cellars, First Choice and BWS stores had the 2014 for $14 (same price as the 2013).

McWilliam's Cellar Door had it for $17.50 (via voucher), and Qantas epiQure sold out on the weekend at $14.

Why am I sharing this? Because hopefully [post=1508955]Dr Ralph[/post] and/or [post=1507800]AnonymousCoward[/post] can help :)

That's cheaper than when I was buying them last century :)

Apparently so - seems to be the best bargain of the once-in-a-lifetime/century 2014 Hunter vintage - "This is the best Philip since the '91" - I've yet to try it myself

The 2014? Wow :)

Unfortunately it was the '13 that turned up :(

the 14 has turned up now but at the higher price ($27) With the wish cards I have I can get it for around $20.25 a bottle- is it worth that? Or was it only worth grabbing @ $14 ?

It's worth the $20. Expect to put them down for a few years though.

You could try price matching in store against the 13 that is listed on vintage cellars :)

Have you had any experience price matching at BWS?

I recently purchased some Rosehill which had to be bought in. It comes from their Melbourne warehouse.
I specifically asked for 2014 and was told they'd get it in as the store only had 1 bottle (2013) on the shelf.
After about 10 days they called to say the wine had arrived....it was a case of 2013 (I bought it anyway during their 25% off promo).
I was told the warehouse wouldn't or couldn't tell them the vintages and it would be trial and luck if any further orders from the warehouse came as 2013 or 2014 vintages.
Think you might find the warehouse will be trying to get rid of 2013 stock.

It's 2014 Hunter Shiraz. If you like the style, snap whatever 2014 you can get. Epiqure had the High Paddock for $22/bot - get some of that too if it comes up again.

The High Paddock is still available at epiQure, as is the '14 Maurice OShea - but I would need to split a case with someone

Need to restock Veuve and Moët in Perth and I really want a great deal.
Meanwhile I dropped into Cullens Winery seeing I was in the area. Diana Madeline red is a favourite.

What is the Cullen vintage sparkling Chardonnay like cove? With all that DM your buying you would probably be getting a good discount

Steady I have not tried the Cullen sparkling chardonnay.
My son just found a 707 and a Moss Wood in a "secret stash" and brought them over. Let me say I am very pleased.
