Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

How hot has it been while stored if it needs to be cooled to 20C?

1986 is reputed as a great vintage. I'd imagine at least a couple of hours in the decanter though and would surely need to be decanted for sediment.

'86 was a stellar vintage but this is an '84;), bottled '86, lol! It's Grange, it's exceptional! Like any of my reds no warmer than 18*c when actually imbibed which could well mean cooler prior to decant, pouring etc. Purchased a few for the cellar b4 GFC when they were less than ridiculously priced:rolleyes:. Pennies prices have indeed gone north relative to income of late across the board, unfortunately, as most of their range cellars well. That said my cellar runs at a constant 15*c/70% humidity even in Qld summer. It was 41*c in Eumundi on Friday! Sparkling Grange anyone:cool:?

Langtons have a vertical of the Elderton Command, which I suspect will disappear in about an hour. $399 for 2 of the 05, 2 of the 06 and 2 of the 07. If Cash Rewards are still available, this is a great deal. Shame I'm completely blown out on the wine budget front.

Thanks Wozza - 6pack secured but I could not find Langtons on CR site at all.

As if 12noonish EST, broker said there is about 80 lots left, but he expected them to be sold pretty soon.

For those in Melbourne and particularly the eastern suburbs, Giant Steps are having a barrel hall sale tomorrow at their cellar door in Healesville. Won't be any Innocent Bystander as they have recently sold that brand off to Brown Bros. but I have seen the price sheet, and there are a couple of Giant Steps wines at heavy discounts (2015 Harry's Monster for $20, compared to $55RRP). Also a bunch of their new budget label 'Wild Run' at about half price.

Hoping I don't regret posting this and drive all the way up there only to miss out on the monster.

Pure coincidence, but I happened to stop in at the Giant Steps cellar door yesterday. Only winery I visited where I didn't buy anything. The Sexton and Applejack pinot noirs were the picks for me, but not at $50 pb. If those were at $20 pb, I'd buy. Harry's Monster even at $20 is still a gyp. Their RRPs across the board are way off.

Put a hole in my Veuve stocks this week so I will be hoping for a special in the near future.
Sign up for the Winemarket emails. When they have their 20% discount days you can usually get veuve under $45.

Or hope for another cellarmasters mistake and get it for $30!

Thanks ste667 for the lead on restocking Veuve. The Moët stocks are depleted as well as the Billecart.
