Not sure who Crackawines use for their deliveries but I just received a mangled case of the Ara Select Block Pinot with half the box ripped open and one of the bottle lids dented. It's a surprise that none of the bottles were broken given the condition of the box.
GRANT BURGE Meshach Shiraz, Barossa. 2009 in a 6 pack for $71 each?
Is that a good buy?, it's the first expensive wine I've bidded on and won....forgot I had bidded on it earlier today...goes for $133ish at DM so I guess it isn't too bad? I haven't received it yet, is it too late to post in share a case thread?
cheers
I have a lonely one bottle in the cellar, which I will be attempting to lose track of for as long as possible!Be interested to hear your thoughts on the 09 Meshach when you get around to tasting one.

This arrived today finally, I think they held it due to heat.
It's in the original packaging wooden case with the hooks, and all the bottles are wrapped in that tissue paper and sealed with stickers. Being new to wine, have never seen this before. It looks too nice to drink...
As you have six bottles, I'd open one just so you know what is coming in the future - they are not really for drinking now, but as they are made well, they will still be a treat to drink even at this early stage.
As for the rest, maybe consider 2019 (10 years), 2021 (12 years), 2023 (14 years), 2025 (16 years) and 2027 (18 years).
If you are not cellaring them at that 16 odd degree mark, then you might want to shorten these timings. Or make a call in 2021 to see how the first three bottles have faired. If they are getting a bit too long in the tooth for your tastes, then you can always drink the rest that year.
Happy drinking. And look forward to hearing your thoughts in the Nice Wines thread ...
Cheers, Wozza
I've drunk two of my '09 Meshachs already. Definitely a classy wine - usual big Barossa style. 09 was a good but not great year, so might not last as long as the others. It's already got 8 years on it, so good drinking now. Will get better over the next 5 years at least (assuming you like the middle aged style)
Very ordinary wine.
I bought the 2012 at DM for $12pb in late 2015, better than the 2011, but still underwhelming.
the 61 and the 56 used to be very good wines..............and we are going back two decades. I was in a Dannys on a Friday, must have been 4.01pm when I had a sampler of a 61. very ordinary. Don't know the year but the good years are over.
