Not sure who Crackawines use for their deliveries but I just received a mangled case of the Ara Select Block Pinot with half the box ripped open and one of the bottle lids dented. It's a surprise that none of the bottles were broken given the condition of the box.

According to my latest delivery, Aust Post eParcel (should be on the label)

GRANT BURGE Meshach Shiraz, Barossa. 2009 in a 6 pack for $71 each?
Is that a good buy?, it's the first expensive wine I've bidded on and won....forgot I had bidded on it earlier today...goes for $133ish at DM so I guess it isn't too bad? I haven't received it yet, is it too late to post in share a case thread?
cheers

This arrived today finally, I think they held it due to heat.
It's in the original packaging wooden case with the hooks, and all the bottles are wrapped in that tissue paper and sealed with stickers. Being new to wine, have never seen this before. It looks too nice to drink...

I have a lonely one bottle in the cellar, which I will be attempting to lose track of for as long as possible!

I have one lonely bottle too - just arrived yesterday (bought as part of Dan's mixed red 6 pack, all up cost of ~$85 for the six after 20% off from Amex deal and cash rewards).

NexDay delivery driver mentioned something interesting that explains many AFF queries on why delivery orders come from what appears to be random stores and often from more than one store - they are sent from the nearest poor performing store, so never from the Alphington store in Vic, as it does well.

As you have six bottles, I'd open one just so you know what is coming in the future - they are not really for drinking now, but as they are made well, they will still be a treat to drink even at this early stage.

As for the rest, maybe consider 2019 (10 years), 2021 (12 years), 2023 (14 years), 2025 (16 years) and 2027 (18 years).

If you are not cellaring them at that 16 odd degree mark, then you might want to shorten these timings. Or make a call in 2021 to see how the first three bottles have faired. If they are getting a bit too long in the tooth for your tastes, then you can always drink the rest that year.

Happy drinking. And look forward to hearing your thoughts in the Nice Wines thread ...

Cheers, Wozza

Thanks for all the advice guys. Should be able to consume one within a month or 2 c
cheers

I've drunk two of my '09 Meshachs already. Definitely a classy wine - usual big Barossa style. 09 was a good but not great year, so might not last as long as the others. It's already got 8 years on it, so good drinking now. Will get better over the next 5 years at least (assuming you like the middle aged style)

I am one of those including Kim Brebach from best whines under twenty who thinks the 09 south ozzies beat the 08's and the tens. I had the 09 Meshach in October and it was absolutely sublime.

Very ordinary wine.
I bought the 2012 at DM for $12pb in late 2015, better than the 2011, but still underwhelming.

the 61 and the 56 used to be very good wines..............and we are going back two decades. I was in a Dannys on a Friday, must have been 4.01pm when I had a sampler of a 61. very ordinary. Don't know the year but the good years are over.

Couldn't agree more, I think the Bin 56 fell further than the 61. Last 61 vintage I had was the 2004 and Bin 56 probably the late 90's.

For the Chardy lovers Mystery TM141 Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2014 - Mystery Wine from Winestar appears to be McWilliams Appelation Series from Riverina $24 down to $12.99.
