Re: Vinomofo Wine Deals

Do yourself a favour if you like big wines made with class. Warrabilla make very good wines and they are well priced v quality. Don't stop at the Zinfandel. The Parola's Durif is sensational. Actually the Parola's Shiraz & Cabernet are great as well.

I have it on very good authority from another esteemed member that the Warrabilla wines are indeed the duck's guts! I should really put the $144 I've been contemplating spending on the Rutherglen Artisan shiraz and subscribe to Warrabilla for around the same money ($150 from memory) and get a mixed 1/2 dozen of their wines....;)

Having said that, I've been getting the dreaded "Can't open the page...server not found message " for Warrabilla, is anyone else able to get onto their site?

I've been trying to get on there for a couple of days Steady, doesn't really feel like a "site maintenance" issue unfortunately

Mindful this is going a bit OT but.... ;)

If you are keen, I would give them a call tomorrow

I am one of those including Kim Brebach from best whines under twenty who thinks the 09 south ozzies beat the 08's and the tens. I had the 09 Meshach in October and it was absolutely sublime.

Interesting to hear that. I'm wondering whether I should open my first 2009 ACJ or do they need more slumber time?

Re: Vinomofo Wine Deals

Love Nicks and they do seem to have a deal with Warrabila because they seem to have a good deal (bit under winery pricing) on each annual release but if you ever venture to Rutherglen as I do annually, get alone to the winery and give the range a try. I'm a big fan. Give Anderson a crack while you're there. Very good sparkling reds and there Petit Verdot is pretty good. Nice part of the world to boot.

Not sure on the 09, but the 10 Penegal and I shared was very young, with the oak still quite green and drying in the mouth - even with food. Maybe try at the 12 or 15 year mark. They are built to cellar for a long time.

I've had it confirmed from the inside that it is 100% the Pontet Canet. He suspects excess stock that needs moving. At $250 minus 12% through the usual methods, I ordered two bottles.

And to remove any doubt the Pontet Canet just turned up.

Wasn't the doubt raised in relation to the provenance rather than the mystery of the wine itself?

Not for me it wasn't. I know how Dan's store and deal with their wine. Spoke to a friend who works in their fine wine section.

So when they are 12, I might be 75, depending.......
