Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Thanks Daver6.

I had a good look but didn't see anything too exceptional, anyone else pick up something special?

I purchased the following. Prices are 25% off. So reduce another 12% to factor in the Wish card and CR savings

Ata Rangi $67.50
2013 Cape Mentelle CS $74.25
Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Rioja $ $75
2002 Krug $352.50
2006 Pio Cesare Barbaresco $75

Very happy with those prices given there is still another $103 off that.

Has anyone had any difficulty getting cash back from CR buying from Dan Murphy's? Have now had the last 2 purchases declined and I have found CR next to useless trying to find out why.

Is there any way to filter the BWS website so it will only show the wines available at my chosen store?

One of my pet hates. If there is I haven't found it.
Nor whether BWS even have a particular wine you want assuming you don't mind going for a drive to a store that does have what you are looking for.
Some of the other stores shows wines they don't have or can't get either (another pet hate)

That Krug will be magnificient, unfortunately none of my local stores are selling anything near that level, it's basically nothing but sub $30 bottles.

I did end up picking up some odds and sods though.

Yep, my last 2 orders were rejected too... about $80 worth of cashback. I got in touch and they're looking into it.

Thanks for that ste - a very good deal on a sensational Clare rizza. They also have the 13 as well so grabbed a few of both.

+1 good alternative to Grosset :)

Thanks Qas! I think

So it looks like I overpaid $21.94 for the Brookland ($3.66 a bott) and $48.72 on the Rangi ($8 a bott) (assuming no delivery fees)!

Oh well. I like Simon and the team at MWG, so that's fine with me.

I am very time poor at the moment. It's usually when I'm time poor that I over pay versus the best price after all the tricks. A small price to pay, in my books, when my time spent on other things is worth more to me.

Forgot to mention earlier that you could ask Simon about their Price Guarantee :)

Langton's apparently had a family and friends sale today - anyone receive the email to share and buy or find anything good?

For those wondering what they might have missed so that they can contact their brokers, these were some highlights besides Burgundies and Italians:

- GOSSET Grand Blanc de Blancs, Champagne NV $80
- JIM BARRY WINES Watervale Riesling, Clare Valley 2016 $12.50
- TAPANAPPA Chardonnay, Piccadilly Valley 2015 $23
- GIANT STEPS Chardonnay, Yarra Valley 2015 $18
- XANADU Stevens Road Chardonnay, Margaret River 2014 $50
- VALLI Waitaki Vineyard Pinot Noir, Central Otago 2013 $45
- HEAD The Blonde Shiraz, Barossa Valley 2015 $28

Make sure any ad blockers are switched off. Also make sure you do not have any other windows or tabs open on your computer.

Thanks prozac for the advice. I do have adblockers and usually have a number of tabs open. Starts to make CR a bit inconvenient to use if I have to close all that.

Well I thought the 2002 Krug at that price was too good to be true. Went to pick up my order and it was the 1998. No problem getting a refund for that wine, so I'm still 5% ahead on $350. Would rather have had the 2002 Krug of course :)

What I tend to do is disable my ad blockers for sites I regular shop on, for that domain only. Effectively a whitelisting process.

I am not the most trusting person when it comes to third-party browser add-ons, but the CashRewards notifier (Chrome) gives me peace of mind once I've clicked-through. With a single click it displays whether your CR is being tracked for your current session.

Thirsty Camel gave me a $10 credit on a $30 spend so I have been having a look to see what I may get and came across this, it seems like a good price, but as I am not a fan I don't know?

Was going to post this in the nice wines had recently but this wasn't really nice.
Bought a 6 pack Command 1999 from Langtons Auction a few weeks ago, popped one open yesterday. I read some reviews of people still drinking it now/ last year and still came highly rated even thought the wine companion says drink before 2009
Had a 2004 2 weeks ago and that was phenomenal.

Well the 1999 was either stored wrong or way past its date. Nose was a musty smell - cork smelt fine though. Don't think it was a corked wine, but I am yet to smell a corked wine.
Decantered for 1 hr: Very sweet on the tongue, acidity coming through afterwards. Finish was long. Was hard to drink at first.
4 hours later in a decanter: acidity coming through much quicker, but still sweet. I have read oxidized wines are kind of a like a porty- plummy taste, and this is what it reminded me of.
Will try another bottle for Easter, hopefully it was just this bottle
5/10 :-(
