Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I complete the occasional survey whenever I have time. While this isn’t specifically a wine deal I thought readers of this thread would find it interesting. I certainly did:

Other options included: Woolworths reward points only; Qantas points only; Dan Murphy credits; or invitations to special events for meeting certain spend thresholds.

Will be interesting to see if they expand some form of rewards to DM.

JD Cellars Secret Wine #118 is Ashbrook Estate Reserve cabernet Sauvignon 2012 -

Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 | Ashbrook Wines

Not a bad drop.

JH:
Reserve Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Ashbrook Estate

Cabernet Sauvignon

Margaret River

Rating 94
.... Slightly disappointing in the context of such a distinguished producer and such old vines.
Drink by:2027
Date tasted:21/Dec/2015
Price:$65.00
Alcohol:14%

Ashbrook Cabernets normally a more restrained/elegant style than many in the region. Not usually in my preferred list for Margaret River, at least at the normal prices.

Not sure if anyone would be interested. But Grays are hocking off a heap of Madeleines Wines at auction at the moment. (Im taking a punt due to previous decent Pudding Stone)

Even with all the fees they can be had for well under $10pb. (Postage for me was $22, but still only came back at $9pb for the Willowburn and Old Vine)

Edit: They have been consistently listing new auctions soon after current auctions finish, so patience will get a decent price.

Wynn's black label cabernet 2015 back today only on cellarmasters for $170 per 6 pack. My $100 voucher from myer came in handy to pick these up at $11 a bottle as I missed out last time.

Care to share link. Doesn’t appear for me on the site.

30% off code for Smashvino. Ive only used them once previously. They have a few Tuesner wines, for those interested. Maybe something of interest to others.

Many thanks Chonka, some decent wines there and you can put together a mixed dozen with free shipping. Never heard of these guys, great find.

Agree about Smashvino, great prices and great people to deal with. I have bought from them a couple of times now and been very happy. Grabbed some of the Leeuwin art series Cabernet this time which I am very keen to try.

Some reasonable deals there, thanks.
Unfortunate that they are another e-tailer that plays vintage roulette and I have no idea if the reviews they quote relate to the actual vintage on offer, they don't show the review vintage either.

Do they ship from their/associated distributors warehouses or direct from the winery?

Don't have a lot of info sorry, only thing I bought before was some Mount Langi Cliff Edge to try, and wasn't really concerned if I received the 2014 or 2015. I got the then current 2015 vintage though..

Postage was via eParcel from "14 Degrees, Lorimer St, PORT MELBOURNE" (smashvino may be a drop shipper? Google tells me of 14 Degrees - "14 Degrees Logistics is a temperature controlled, purpose built facility that has been designed to handle the storage and distribution for food and beverage")

I shot an email to Tom who’s email is listed on the site to find out the vintage of wines that I was keen in. Received a response straight away.

Not sure about their storage and delivery though all I can say is the wines that showed up were tip top.

Interesting, thanks. Their site says they use Fastway, a negative for me as they are consistently awful in the ACT.

Many small start up e-tailers will work with wholesalers/distributors and/or producers to ship directly rather than hold their own stock, keeps the overheads down. Via a quick look at the brands, possibly this distributor: Wholesale Wines | Nelson Wine Co. | Prime Wines

I contacted Tom and he was happy for me to post here.

Hi birdyzone

We are working away getting vintages added and confirming pricing in the portfolio and online.
The pricing online is correct although we have alot of product yet to be added to the site.
By the end of April, we aim to have all vintages visible online and our portfolio will be matching nicely.
We have approx another 500 products to upload so appreciate your understanding.
If there is anything specific your keen on id be happy to confirm vintage and price.
Appreciate your business.
Kind Regards, Tom Nelson
