Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I sometime wonder why some of these producers make and sell for the Chains such ordinary wines under their own label name. I know I tend to buy less of their non-Chain offerings as a result of my feeling that they don't care about their reputation.

Very true RBG
I haven’t bought a single bottle of any of the producers who have done that. It’s funny I’m happy to forgive the likes of Wolf Blass of Yalumb who produce a budget range and don’t pretend it’s something that it’s not, But when a fanciful rrp is given to a product to be then put on Cellarmasters or mof_ and it’s rubbish I lose faith in the brand and stop buying.
I have the same problem with Winedirect and theirvCurtis Wines and massive rrp, just when I could look past Curtis, along came Martins Vinyard also with massive rrp.
Guess who owns Martins...... that’s right Curtis.

Have anyone purchased Cellarmasters eGift cards and got cashback from Cashrewards?
Cellarmasters cashback always higher than the usual 5% from Cashrewards.
I presume Cellarmasters gift card is usable at Dans, Woolworths?

Couldn't agree more BZ (if I can call you that:)) we've had a pretty decent debate regarding the Curtis pricing on here previously and the consensus matches your thoughts exactly, I don't know how they have the gumption to suggest the wine's genuinely viable at the RRP when I've felt mildly ripped-off even with the "heavy discount"... Haven't looked at Wine Direct's offerings for a while so have missed the Martins products but equally, it sounds like I haven't missed a bargain either.

All good W&D
I answer to most things!
I usually make the most of Winedirect 30% off sales and the odd secret deal but this year has slim pickings. Matt Wallace is their goto guy and is good to deal with and pretty accomodating.
I did let him know the Curtis and Martins wines are putting my crew off their mixed cases but didn’t get a reply to that one.
It obviously works for a proportion of their clientele but it is alienating many more. I’m happy to buy from them but I have two Amex vouchers expiring and nothing to buy.
That’s probably a good thing with the truck load I have bought this week
Cheers Birdyzone

At the moment I don't think there's anything of value, that even with the $90 off from this voucher would be worth the effort. Eg: This (Wynns Blk Lbl Cab Sauv 16 (6 2016) would still be $30 a bottle. I'd expect to pay closer to $20 a bottle. Prices do seem to have increased at Cellarmasters.
Stonier Pinot is $28 RRP but shows as a deal at $35 on Cellarmasters....can be bought on CellarOne for $115 for 6

Yeah, I've let them know a couple of times that I won't buy anything from them that includes Curtis/Martins wines. But they keep offering the packs/deals so I guess they must be selling to someone. I haven't bought anything much there this year between 30% off sales, although a couple of the non-Curtis "Secret" wine deals have been a little tempting.

On another note, idly flicked by GWD's offerings in my inbox today and was ready to hit delete (as usual) when I came across what looks like a genuine bargain: $9 delivery Australia wide | 100% money back guarantee | Australian owned
I did my due diligence on this one and it appears to be the cleanskin of Wines > The Barking Dog, 2015 GSM > Shanahan's Wines - Barossa Valley, South Australia the awards and 94 points from Patrick Eckel are legit but just wondered if anyone had any experience of it? $99 a dozen deliveredo_O

Just got this email from Cracka Wines:

Leeuwin Estate's Art Series Chardonnay is one of the most famous wines in the country, with a reputation for excellence spanning decades.

But beyond the Chardonnay, it's daylight to the rest of the wines. The Shiraz, Riesling and Cabernet have always been good, but never scaled the same heights.

Until this 2014 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon came through the door.

Here, Leeuwin have finally delivered a red that can match the exceptional Chardonnay. It's a Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon that balances the leafy fragrance of southern Margaret River with an extra level of plushness that you just don't normally see in Leeuwin reds.

No doubt the superb 2014 vintage has helped, but this really is a step up in every way. Just read the review from Huon:

'Perfectly-ripened cabernet fruit embellished with stylish oak... very intense and cast in an elegant but full-bodied style... tannins are emphatic but fine and restrained, beautifully tailored. A lovely wine indeed - to cellar or enjoy now' 96 points, Huon Hooke.

It is indeed a lovely wine, and today here at Cracka it's all yours for the special price of just $64.99/bottle in six packs with FREE delivery, which looks cheap compared to top wines from peers like Moss Wood or Vasse Felix.

I've got just 9 six packs of this Cabernet available - be one of the lucky nine right here: Buy 2014 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon - Cracka Wines | Cracka Wines

I think these were going for $45ish during the recent SmashVino sale. Also been some horror stories involving Cracka lately that have turned me off them.

*EDIT - still $52.50 at Smashvino with SMASHINGBOTTLES coupon - Leeuwin Estate 2014 'Art Series' Cabernet — Smash Vino

Seppelt Jaluka was on Vinomofo a few months ago as a Black Market $15 and its is now a Kemeny's Secret Label at $14.95.
It is a beautiful Chardonnay. I got 3 cases the other time and I'm going with 2 more now. If I am reasonable, I will be able to keep them to age a bit ;)
