I'm ashamed to say that I caved and pulled the trigger on the
Farnese Edizione Cinque Autoctoni 16 - it came to about $32 a bottle. I've had a few of these before (not this "vintage") and they have always been huge crowd pleasers, even stood up against Mount Mary Quintet in a five varietal tasting.
Previous vintages have been serious gear, no subtlety, all bombast. The perfect wine to bring out to wipe the self-satisfied grin of
that guy who always brings a Zinfandell to blow everyone's palate away.
Let's just hope Cracka can actually deliver it.
