Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Zonte's Footsteps 2016 Baron von Nemesis Shiraz.
Tempting at this price with a voucher... just a bit turned off by Huan Hooke’s comments about the 2015 vintage:
Deep red/purple colour and a muddy, earthy overtone to the dark plum aromas. There's also a poohy trace of sulfides. The palate is full-bodied and firm, with ample tannin and a slightly astringent edge. It's a bit gritty. A little extra cellar-time may be of benefit. 89 points
Poohy’s not typically a feature I look for in a Shiraz

Yep, no thanks. Also, while I realise you add a few for Huon vs say Halliday, 89 points is far from a ringing endorsement.

‘13 was $43.50 & the ‘14 was $46.30 for me from SV

2013 $42 :)

It got wine of the year from Halliday....!

Don't know how/why it was WOTY when given 99pts in the previous edition - must be a timing thing

I think the Maurice O'sea is the best of the package. The increase in the price of this wine over the last 5 years is staggering.

Yes, that and the Le Sol were my picks :)

Apologies if this has already been posted but you can pickup 7x botts of the Hoddles Creek Estate 2017 Pinot Noir GW94 HH92 for just over $16 a bottle delivered from Winestar using the $50 off $150 spend AMEX offer.

Great buying

Definitely the best budget/under-$30 pinot noir from 2017 that I've had so far - though haven't tried Riorret Lusatia Park yet :)

I agree that Halliday overscores, but I still think him and Huon have different palates. It's not unheard of for Huon to score a wine higher than Halliday. IMO Huon prefers elegance and balance, and Halliday prefers vivaciousness and one or two stand-out characteristics (as per Parker).

Can anyone help identify this Cracka mystery Pinot?
Thought it may be worth a punt with $50 off, comes down to less than $12 per bottle for what I’m guessing is Tassie Pinot

Also Giant Steps Pinot - Yarra Valley available for under $20 with $50 off and cashrewards.

For those registered with the Vintage Cellars Wine Club they are having another triple wine points promotion until Sunday (requires clicking the activation button in the email), which equates to 15% off through the use of the awarded points on future purchases.

cheers!

Any idea what's going on here?

I know I've purchased this wine multiple time for $15 or less during the last 3 years.

Has this wine done a Maurice O'Shea which went from around $50 a bottle to now around $250 over a 3 to 5 year period? Or is Dan't just jacking up prices for fathers day?

Looks like that is just the cellar release pricing. Dans are currently offering a cellar release pack including the 2012 Filsell, so would assume this is just a ploy to inflate the “value” of this pack. Current release is around the $30 mark (saw last week for $24.49 at Costco).

Ok. $50 still seems like a lot for a 2012 version of this though.

"Cellar" release enough to get it to that price point?
