Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Are JD Cellars offers any good?

Was subscribed for about 8 months to their Reds before they removed me from their mailing list without telling me.
I asked what happened and to be added back.

Instead of adding me back on their mailing list they just replied …”if I had purchased anything from them before.” (sounds like No I’m not adding you back on our list to me). Pretty poor form.

I would have bought something from JD’s if they offered a decent deal once in a while. Just kept offering overpriced reds I could get elsewhere IMO.

That's strange, you can't buy anything from them without being on the mailing list so it would be a bit counter-productive to remove people, especially ones that are engaged enough to chase it up. Without knowing any details I would say it was a mistake rather than malicious.

JD Cellars provide a better selection than many online wine marketers, and I have never seen an offering which was blatantly overpriced. You may find that the wines they offer are not to your taste, but that is a different issue. I find the hit rate (i.e. wines I want) is pretty low with all of these wine marketers, usually no fault of theirs but I am just not looking for MR Chardonnay at the moment - I've got a cellar full of it.

I've had some great and some not-so-great purchases from JD in the past. I have also been removed off their mailing list with no rhyme or reason given. I choose to believe it's their management of their list that is a bit amateurish, rather than any deliberate malice.

Haha. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one that got removed from their list. I replied back to them to say I hadn’t bought from them yet and just got ignored. Guess I’m not meant to be on their mailing list and looks like I’m not missing much :)

Gday all - noticed that Boozebud have an offer on Groupon for $50 off orders over $100 (costs $10). New customers only. Groupon have 10% off currently (JOY10) and 15% Cashrewards so you can drop that to $7.50 for $50 off.

https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/boozebud-4

Boozebud also has 6% cashrewards.

Some not bad deals can be found, if you are willing to wade through the horrible Boozebud website, for example:

2x Yalumba The Signature delivered for approx $64 - Buy Yalumba The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz 2013 Online
2x Derwent Estate Calcaire Pinot delivered for approx $68 -https://www.boozebud.com/p/derwentestate/calcairepinotnoir
2x Oakridge 864 Pinot delivered for approx $81 - Buy Oakridge 864 Pinot Noir Online

Thanks tielec - picked up 3 bottles of 2017 Oakridge LVS Hazeldene Pinot Noir for $65 ($21.66 / bt) delivered. Great wine and great deal.

Received this morning. Incorrect delivery of 2016 vintage (a bit of a dud according to the reviews) rather than 2017. Stay tuned for a report on their customer service department... (why do I have the feeling that I'm stuck with these...)

Already resolved with a full refund and gratis wine. I paid $10 for the Groupon voucher which I won't get back, but no complaints, they handled it very well, and even average Oakridge pinot is still Oakridge pinot. Impressed!

So they refunded your money and you got to keep the wine?

If that's the case I'm VERY impressed.

Yes, agree. To quote exactly "I have refunded you for the order so you can enjoy the bottles on us, rather than have them returned which would cause you more effort." Text book good customer service that, after an initial problem, leaves a good impression.

That is great customer service and better than my experience with Grays this week.

Purchased a 6 pack of Chaffey Bros Dufte Punkt through auction and received a 12 pack of Chain of Ponds Rose. Before they would even consider it being disputed, I had to send photos of the incorrect wine, then resend again with a shot of the carton it had arrived in.

Many emails later, I have been sent a return label and take the carton to Australia Post. Only when they receive the wine and have investigated the claim will they consider sending a replacement. Not great customer service and a shows a high level of distrust.

FWIW, service form boozebud has been impeccable. During xmas, they were swamped and running behind on deliveries. I complained, received a $25 credit and got my delivery a couple of days later. Grays, unfortunately are on the other end of the spectrum.

For those who took advantage of the XMAS Cellarmasters deal using code WESTPAC just check you CR rebates.

When duffa posted intel on Dec 24 CM rebate via CR was 7% - but it jumped to 11% on Dec 25 which is when I purchased 8 x Moët packs.

5 of the transactions tracked at 11% but 3 tracked at 7%. Email to CR got it sorted but just check anyway.
Thanks for this reminder @Cruiser Elite .

I was os when you posted but arrived home today and none of my three purchases tracked.

I’ll jump through their stupid hoops to chase it but any chance you have a screenshot for the 11%?

I usually screenshot every step of the way, but it was a Christmas Day purchase while packing for a four week trip I wasn’t as thorough as usual :(.
