Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

That's really sharp pricing on the John Riddoch. If I didn't have a self imposed wine purchasing ban I'd probably get some.
Yes thought so - and the Michael - I still have a bunch Wish at -7.5% which I bought on 23/05/2015 so can get irregular / totally unique disc of 14.5% so thought I might have a lash

Tasted both of these last week, I thought the Riddoch was good but the Michael was brilliant. This is a tasting of some very good wines including Grange and I considerably preferred the Michael.

Apologies for posting - but nothing unique about my situation - plenty here buy Wish at -7.5% through Groupon.

They do indeed, including me. However, the 7.5% discount cards are only available a couple of times a year and for a very limited period. Many people will not know about or buy these, therefore a fairer comparison of a discounted price is to use the 5% Wish card, IMO.

PS No need to apologise, we are just debating :).

I did not realise you were all over my spending patterns - please enlighten me how you come to this conclusion - holding them for a year (as you recently did)?

Didn't you just buy some Cullens with your about to expire cards? If not, apologies. Either way the principle stands - the longer you hang on to cards the less the discount. Hold for 6 months and I'd say you're under 5% discount you get by buying spot price.

PS - it wasn't a sincere apology. And when did the 'Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals' thread become a debate thread? Here is me thinking it was thread to post notifications of deals AFF members had spotted - i'll come all guns a blazin' next time now that I know it is a debate thread! ;)

Were you also at the PWS tasting? I saw a bunch of folks who kept going back for refills of the Michael. The John Riddoch is too young to drink now whereas the Michael is great now, but will also be better in a few years. At the same tasting, I had a similar feeling when I compared the Grange with the RWT (where the RWT is great to drink now while the Grange is too harsh and big right at the moment).

Jeez mate you are so way off the mark - how about you let me spend as I like - you spend as you like - not a thread for lectures on opportunity cost of money either I would have thought.

Bummer - went to purchase some Michael but limit 2 botts/customer. Don't you hate that? So I called Dan's - they cannot even guarantee if you will receive the 2012 or 2013 if you buy online - will depend what is available in store.

I don't hate the 2bottle limit at all. In fact my wallet loves me for it XD

I think 'bought' should be the word used. I can't see them offering the 7.5% again given the multi million dollar stuff up a few months ago.
Maybe so - maybe not - there wouldn't be many dodgy characters who raced off and spent their first receipts then went and double dipped on their second receipts would there?

I was at the PWS tasting in Sydney, yes indeed. Sue Hodder was very accomodating of us but we did suss out the good stuff for her to taste too and keep her glass full!

I preferred the RWT too but must say my main feeling over Penfolds is they have priced themselves out of the market for real wine afficionados and they are mainly marketing to wannabies who really dont have great wine understanding. It only my view (but must say a fair few agreed with me) but it seems to me theres a lot of good wine around at better proces.

2013 Michaels or 2013 in general?

If after the Michaels, Langtons have them available at $110/bottle in 6-packs

All - check each page - you will see *asterisk beside year - scroll down further and it explains Vintages may vary store to store:

* Vintages may vary from store to store and when delivered. Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is displayed, however variations can occur.
I was not aware this before.
