it's not a linear scale, difference between 95+ and 97 on tWf can be significant to some, not quite a percentile basis but similar

So is there a big difference between the two vintages?
I was asking serious question, didn’t try to make a point.
Got only one of the 18 so far and didn’t open it yet. If it’s as good as the 19 I’ll consider getting more from MWG.

I think Qaz has pointed it out nicely that for some people it will matter, for an amatuer like me I probably couldn't tell. However, on tWF 97 points is significant as it's not handed out like candy.

With that said I think they have a tendency to boost the less mainstream brands (but maybe not since the guys taste blind).

Personally we are cracking open the 19 tonight to try, but I don't have 18 to compare against.

Glaetzer Anaparenna’s

Saw some of these but wasn't sure if it was worth around $30 unless I made up the 6. Some HRBs going for cheaper than Cellarone as well.

Glad you managed to get some 19s after all.

If you like big reds you’ll most likely enjoy Anaperenna.
Not too unusual to find it discounted around $30.

Red wine newbie here, my wife loves Penfolds 389 because it is very "smooth" with very little tannin. Obviously at that price we can't afford to drink that every day, would anyone be able to suggest what we can buy in lieu of Penfolds 389 that is more affordable? Something that would be an easy drinker and wouldn't have lots of tannin?

Yeah I scooped two bottles after the post, but it's the Cullen DM I'm keen to try. Might just cough up for a bottle around $100, just feels like at that price I could be buying other stuff that seems more interesting like By Farr.

The missus has good taste! I like the question because some think Penfolds wines are grossly overpriced for the quality. Looking forward to be informed which Cab/Shiraz are much cheaper and far better than 389.
