Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Your bank would be liable for this, not you. An authorised signature is required.

you shouldn't be liable for any unauthorised transactions, but why risk losing money then having to reclaim it?

physical/written signatures aren't necessarily required anymore, online/digital/verbal consent can now be sufficient, and that is the loophole exploited

Only just noticed Qantas Wine has a referral program till the end of year - Qantas Wine Referral Program | Qantas Wine. In case your brother/sister/friend/cousin/parent/dog is making an order.

wish i had a dog that could make phone orders :)

Under the dry rules this will not be eligible for PM because it doesn’t show online but we know by now the dry rules don’t always (almost never) apply at DM ;)

price doesn't have to be online for them to match - they could call to verify stock, without asking or being told if it's excess

I'm really not so sure about that one.,, I've been buying chalambars for more than 20 yrs and the 2004 and 2006 aren't set up to last as well as the later ones. Would love to be proved wrong as Chalambar is a total favourite. Halliday, who often goes stupidly long, gave both of those two a ten year drinking window only. The 08 should be perfect. The '09, which I bought heavily, including some magnums, is still very good so there is some hope there. If I bought one of these packs I would get into the '04 immediately ... Sorry to be a downer. I got some friends interested in this deal and then on reflection had to add a heavy warning that they might be flogging off some vintages that were on the way out.
Thanks for your thoughts Bill. When I posted this I was see sawing as to whether to take the risk. They were out of stock and so I phoned and they added another 30 cases online. I had seen some 10 year windows on the 2004. CM seems to think the 2006 will cellar well and so was hoping it will be ok and JH put 20 years on the 2008. I got to the point of pulling the trigger anyway at the price and "supposed" low quantities and taking the risk. As noted by others ill get into the 2004 and see how it is with some fingers crossed. Might need to invite some friends around for a vertical tasting night - Anyone in Wollongong 😀

there were actually another 127 cases when i checked after your post

2004 and 2008 have positive reviews from this year on CellarTracker and Vivino, whilst Winefront has a good one for 2006

if you're in Wollongong, then perhaps have a joint tasting with Wendouree?

Has anyone boomed on the Jaluka vertical and tried any of the older vinatges in this pack yet? The 2005, 07 or 08

Im intrigued by it but hesitatnt to boom on it just yet.

Im convinced these will still be interesting/approachable/eminently drinkable/nice to drink, but this is very very old Chardonnay. Would like to know how they are drinking if anyone's tried yet....
I haven't but I'm also seriously considering giving that a go. For educational purpose let say...

October 6 is the date when MWG will merge with TWC.

The announcement email doesn’t clarify how loyalty points will merge.

Anyone using their loyalty points before the merger? I'm fearful that they wont be carried across (or the value won't be the same / additional conditions)

According to our friends at OzBargain, first chocie will have upsized cashback tomorrow (20%) Starts 4pm AEST 30/9 and runs for 6 hours.
Interesting - Would not know last time I bought anything from FC - but if Penfolds included I can see 389 at ~$66 and RWT at ~$112 - interesting

Can you buy Coles Gift Cards or anything like that to get a 5% disc like Wish at WW?

You need Coles & Myer Group gift card for First Choice Liquor, but those don't tend to be on discount. Don't fall into the trip of buying normal coles egift cards as they won't work outside of coles.

What is a good price for Penfolds 389? Wanted to get some but looking to hold off until the right deal comes along.

15% Cashrewards @ eBay - today only, $25 cap per account (so spending $166.67 reaches cap) - Bollinger Special Cuvee $64.73 @ Dan's eBay

Suduiraut 2007 375ml $59.99 @ WineStar (Guiraud 2009 also same)

I was about to recommend that anyone with sufficient MWG points should redeem $100 vouchers and spend them, as the maximum TWC discount is $50, but was informed yesterday that TWC will be increasing their limit to $100

However, even taking into account the 8.8% Cashrewards possible with TWC not available via MWG, the latter's rewards are still significantly and relatively cheaper points-wise, with a $100 MWG voucher being 25% less than the equivalent from TWC

So, my recommendation remains to redeem $100 MWG vouchers and spend them now

MWG:TWC points conversion will be 1:10 - that is, 1,000 MWG points will convert into 10,000 TWC points

So will this change log in details etc?

I presume not, and those with both MWG and TWC accounts would have them merged

Huge price variation with 389. Can get them as low as $35 sometimes to patience is definitely the key.
In my view a fair price would be anything up to $55.
