Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I LOVE the Alpha Crucis Cabernet, scoop it up wherever possible. I received a complimentary bottle of 2009 Irvine Grand Merlot when I purchased a dozen last week. It was really good! I grabbed this dozen to have a crack at the 2005 Merlot Royale, I'd be interested to see if it stacks up to the $290 price tag. Seems pretty good value to me. I am a huge fan of the Zonte's Footstep Chocolate Factory as well. I got 4 of each of the Zonte's Shiraz to get my free bottle of 2009 Irvine Grand Merlot. I'll let you know about the Merlot Royale when it comes in and I have ripped the top off it.

A little off the wine topic .... but it looks like Dan's has price matched (or just undercut) Aldi on their Cognac.
Courvoisier XO Cognac - $88.95 delivery only offer - but compared to it's usual retail price of $129.99 it's the cheapest I've seen it for a long time.

Even at $88.95 I still think it is over priced (not a fan of Courvoisier, even XO).

For anyone that likes Brookland Valley wines & is a member of the Liquor Barons Advantage Club they have the Estate versions of the Cab Merlot & Chardonnay on sale for $20 a bottle, the Cab Merlot is $40 at Dans. I've had the 2012 Verse 1 Cab Merlot & that was a very good wine for around the $10-$15 mark.

Not sure if the code I posted earlier is still operational (see below) to further reduce the price or depending on the restrictions maybe even get a bottle for free.

My local LB has the same Brookland Estate wines, 2012 Cab/Mer & 2014 Chardonnay at 2 for $30 now.

Seems like there's a clearance sale on select wines (30-50% off) at BWS at the moment. Stock will vary from store to store but picked up a Yalumba Menzies 2010 Cabernet yesterday for $26, and a 2013 Barwang Hilltops Shiraz for $10. Saw quite a number of Pinot Noirs from Mornington & TAS (Paringa, Stonier and Spring Vale were ones that spring to mind). Parker First Growth 2008 for $55 (as per winemarket deal). Chris Ringland Reservation Shiraz for $32. Yalumba The Signature was 30% off. Mollydooker Blue Eyed Boy was $26. Quite a few more I can't recall.

Cheers for that.
is a JH 91score something to get excited about and take a punt considering he marks high or is the blend a rather unusual one?
Did you pick up the Filsell 2010 6 pack for about a hundred recently? It's a great wine.

Thanks for the tip - a six pack is on the way......what is interesting here is the recommendations for aging of the csv's that these guys have made.
A ten year window almost applies to all but then JH put out and much longer time frame. I guess it al depends on the year doesn't it.
nevertheless, this has another two in it so I look forward to something a little different. the quintessential Aussie blend of Shiraz and Cab has put out a few beauts.
Yalumba Signature, lakebreezes arthurs reserve, frank potts, bernoota etc. But the Viognier is going to be a tad different, so Dr, thanks in anticipation.

Never had a bad Eden Hall.

Waltzed into my local BWS to pick up another 2010 Frogmore Creek Pinot to find a few bargains that they are no longer going to stock.
Also Howard Park Cab Sauv half price. Might be worth checking out your local store!

I've checked 3 different stores in the last 2 days and haven't found anything other than the usual specials.

Great deals. I would love to pick up some Ata Rangi for $40 a bottle. I wonder whether a different store would price match. I might give it a go. Which store is it, Sedimental?

I've checked out a few and just found Parker First Growth 08 for $55 and Saltram No 1 09 for $47.50 - 10% less of course in a 6.

New Farm 4006, attached to Brunswick St Hotel. Totally different story at BWS New Farm, Merthyr Road 4006, one km away. Picked up a couple of 2012 Leconfield Merlots for $12 but otherwise slim pickings. Girl at Brunswick St store quite chatty, reckons discounting happens every second Thursday and keeps ratcheting down to maximum discount of 50%. $70 retail genenally accepted as ok price. As the Frogmore I went to buy went from $30 to $34 to $36 and now $40 you could imagine my delight at finding 2013 Ata Rangi at the same price, having bought a 6 pack recently at $60 ea from a well connected friend!!

Dannys today has a #$180 for 6 Wolf Blass Grey labels 2012 AND a free Wolf Blass Black label 2010......they value the black at $108, hence $12 a bot for the Grey.. Having never had a Grey, I really can't comment .

ITS THE CABERNET SHIRAZ version !

doing some research here suggests this is something I need to get n the next hour
