If you have a broker, he/she can manually combine everything together. However you can't avoid the shipping fees (unlike the retail purchases). Only reason I can think of to do this would be to make it logistically simpler to receive fewer deliveries

Can't be a lazy broker. Mine's in the past (along with providing erroneous information) said this can't be done and charged me an extra $10 just to ship a single bottle I've purchased through auction so YMMV.

Mike Press Cab Sav at $155.88/12 shipped would seem a decent option... brings it down to $8.82 per bottle. I haven't ever tried Mike Press wines, but they seem to get mostly favourable reviews around the traps for a mid-week quaffer.

I've tried many Mike Press wines (although not this one). In my view there is probably not a maker in Australia who so consistently delivers value for money, and indeed would push many wines at 2-3 times the price. Winestar does have some very decent prices, particularly on their weekly special via email.

You can't avoid shipping charges for auction items by combining with retail. At best they can combine the retail purchase with your auction items, and you pay shipping for the lot.
As I said before, the only reason I can think of to do this would be to have everything delivered in one go, vs in two separate deliveries.
It can definitely be done, because I've done it before.
But I still have to pay $10 shipping for a case of 12 (6 retail, plus 4 auction)

Here are a few more possibly decent ones for a more modest budget. I can vouch for the first two.
Yalumba The Scribbler 2012 @ $14.45

... which wasn't bad, but it's $12.82 with the Winestar / Amex deal if you have it. And minimum of 2 bottles so you can mix it with some others to make up a dozen.

They also have a couple of well-rated (by Halliday) West Cape Howe 2014 reds (Cab/Merlot and Shiraz) at $13.99 / $14.99 that come into that magic vicinity of $10 after amex credit, minimum of 6 each. Willow Bridge Dragonfly shiraz in the same category.

Oh and at the higher end, Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2013 at $27.33 by the six after credit (the amex discount is only $40 since you have to pay $10 shipping for a half dozen). Better than you'd usually manage here in Australia for that drop, I think.

Unfortunately the Norfolk Rise can only be bought in lots of 12, so I can't see how you could add anything pricier to get the spend up to $150 without buying a whole other case (thereby halving the per-bottle discount) or buying less than a case and paying a surcharge for the partial case. With these sorts of offers you have to optimise your discount: spend as close as possible (but not less than) $140 (plus the $10 surcharge) if buying less than a case, or as close as possible (but not less than) $150 if buying a full case. Note that a half dozen with a $10 shipping surcharge still gives you $6.67 off per bottle; a full dozen without surcharge gives you $4.17 off per bottle, and you will have a lot better range of decent choices if you go for a half dozen, so that seems like the best way to play it unless you're just going for quantity.

Agreed. For that sort of money I think you couldn't hope to do better than 2013 Uncut. It is more than competitive with anything else in the range of its usual asking price of $18 or so. And you can get on the share-a-case thread if you don't agree - I don't think you'd have any trouble finding someone to take it off your hands for that sort of money.

For those who love a BIG Barossa Grenache, the Maverick Ahrens Creek 2012 is available thru winemarket ebay for $26.53/btl delivered in a sixer (use code 'CELLAR' to knock 20% off). At 15.5% there's no denying it's a big wine, but its a graceful one, and the finish is loooooonnngg. I can't recall other flavour profiles right now, but remember being very impressed even though I tend to steer away from big alcohol wines. This does have a little alcohol heat (that said, decanting this and putting it in the fridge for 15-20 mins to knock a couple of degrees off makes a noticeable difference), but doesn't detract in my books.

Halliday's 92 has a bet each way: " Lays down multiple challenges: its opulence, its alcohol, its variety and its price. The heat engendered by the alcohol is the issue, not so much the other facets of this massively powerful, old vine grenache. The jury is likely to be out for a considerable time."

I picked up case of this back in June for about $32 a bottle, and have lined up for another at this new price. $150-$180 at full retail is a no go, but I'd be comfortable paying up to $50 for this so it's a steal in my books. Drinking nicely now and easily for another 5 years or more. Cork closure.

Appears to be the 2014 Willunga 100 Shiraz Viognier. I got the 2013 vintage when recommended as a trophy winner at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show and having loved their Grenache, had a punt. If this vintage is anything similar, will be a great buy at $13.33 a bottle!

myself and my partner found it intriguing and v comples. I believe I found some lavender in there with beautiful texture and length.
I'm sure it was still $50 a day or 2 ago.
