Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

As soon as it was posted on ozbargain it was only a matter of time... Especially as it looks like some had ebay codes to reduce the price even further.

I bought a 6-pack from the original Winery Lane in 2013, but it's not really as good as the $30/750ml La Cuesta from Nicks. https://www.nicks.com.au/bodega-jose-de-la-cuesta-pedro-ximenez-sherry-750ml

Dandelion 30 Year Old Pedro Ximenez (375ml) (Half case (6 bottles))

Thanks, I've come across La Cuesta before but not tried it - do you know how it compares to Lustau San Emilio or Gonzalez Byass Nectar?

For SA? Then 2010 possibly slightly better than 2012, but only time will tell.
For Hunter 2013/2014 much better than 2010 or 2012.
For WA, every recent year has been excellent

Most SA wineries and good brokers will tell you 2010 was a better long lived wine than the 2012. Cheers

Red, you've pulled one out of the hat with this sherry. Stopped in on the way home and they had a sample for tasting. Seriously good stuff, complex, not too sweet, tremendous possibilities from a style I have never enjoyed except out of a two litre glass container. Over ice, over ice-cream, neat....this, albeit after a small sample, is a nice pickup. As an after dinner drink, beautiful.

Was someone after Aussie Malbec? Maybe it was Miss Bick? No idea what it is like or if it is a good price... came through from The Entertainment Book

Got this "secret" offer this morning from Wine Direct.

Secret Gold Medal, 95pt 2014 McLaren Vale Shiraz Blend Dozen

Appears to be the 2014 Willunga 100 Shiraz Viognier. I got the 2013 vintage when recommended as a trophy winner at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show and having loved their Grenache, had a punt. If this vintage is anything similar, will be a great buy at $13.33 a bottle!

With credit to AnonymousCoward, this now appears to be available & cheaper at VinoMofo:

https://vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/mof_-secret-deal-shiraz-viognier-2014

All the stats match. $11.50 per bottle + delivery (if you miss a free delivery offer) so not much difference. At least VM identify it as a "Special Value" JH rating!

Damn great value here...I recently bought some Willunga 100 shiraz 2012 and cab/shiraz 2014 for about $15 a bot net, so VM have really done a great deal. Both of these I have never tried before but their Grenache was stunning. let the glut continue with a little variety out there. Speaking of which, winebox warehouse was the vendor and I bought some 2004 - yes 2004 La primera shiraz viognier at a tenner. Very very nice wine, I was shocked as to the integrity of the fruit character and the freshness of the wine. Bought only a handful but impressed.

2003 is still there - $10.99 a bottle (RRP $20):

Ladbroke Grove La Primera Shiraz Viognier 2003

Most of their Ladrbroke Grove wines seem to be very old vintage. They also have a lot of wines at poor prices - e.g. Geoff Hardy GMH Founder's Blend is $13.99 here, but $7.99 at Cracka. As always, research first. :)

Very nice buying. I've had the Willunga 10 Shiraz and enjoyed it (can't remember the year), so this is tempting.

*edit*
A little too tempting, by the looks of it. I'm waiting on a pickup on a VM return so I can get a credit, so thought I'd add this to my cart in the meantime. Accidentally clicked the BOOM! button, instead of add to cart. Oops!

Has anyone worked ut the Entertainment book secret Cabernet?

My guess is the apellatilon hilltops cab sauv, price, alcohol % match and lots of the hilltops range has been available through the entertainment book previously... Happy to be corrected

Unfortunately, I had the Shiraz in my cart and went to dinner with a friend by the time I got back to my phone it was sold out....been wanting some Malbec though so ordered that instead...haven't decided on the cab sauv yet....

yes, the shiraz sold out quickly again, even with a [post=1484820]74% price increase[/post] :) :(

Just phone them in the morning and they'll sort it out for you (and refund the shipping cost if there was one) ;-)

Sent them an email straight after I did it, and they've already sorted it. I'm sure they'll get my money anyway soon enough, just maybe not on that!

Not sure what I'll choose for myself yet, or even if I'll buy anything after the Langton's deal expenditure, but this post on OzBargain has given me a few cheaper ideas - my stock of white quaffers is low so the Seppelt Jaluka Chardonnay might be a goer...

I wish they had a minimum spend for free delivery rather than a dozen policy

just realised that WineStar sell gift vouchers :)
