I have both Winestar and Cracka offers registered on my card, so are there any referral codes I'd love a PM ;)

Now to try and work out what to buy. So many suggestions about the Winestar offer - but as I'm a red only drinker (but my wife likes whites), I'm looking at other members hauls for suggestions:

Long time lurker, first time poster. Hi all!

Just logged in to Amex Connect and saw a new deal for WineStar, spend $150 get $50 statement credit.

Mike Press Cab Sav at $155.88/12 shipped would seem a decent option... brings it down to $8.82 per bottle. I haven't ever tried Mike Press wines, but they seem to get mostly favourable reviews around the traps for a mid-week quaffer.

Anything else stellar at WineStar that's worth a punt?

Don't see how you can go wrong with Mike Press at that price. I've been happy with their Cab Sav at around $12 previously :)

Think you can buy a mixed number of anything. Its $10 penalty for ordering less than 12. I'm looking at some of the $18-$22 chardys that they have Innocent Bystander, Hoddles Creek etc should reduce them down nicely and perfect fodder for visiting relatives over the Christmas period.

Is there a referral credit for Winestar, never used before. If so someone please inbox me.

I've tried many Mike Press wines (although not this one). In my view there is probably not a maker in Australia who so consistently delivers value for money, and indeed would push many wines at 2-3 times the price. Winestar does have some very decent prices, particularly on their weekly special via email.

... which wasn't bad, but it's $12.82 with the Winestar / Amex deal if you have it. And minimum of 2 bottles so you can mix it with some others to make up a dozen.

They also have a couple of well-rated (by Halliday) West Cape Howe 2014 reds (Cab/Merlot and Shiraz) at $13.99 / $14.99 that come into that magic vicinity of $10 after amex credit, minimum of 6 each. Willow Bridge Dragonfly shiraz in the same category. Oh and at the higher end, Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2013 at $27.33 by the six after credit (the amex discount is only $40 since you have to pay $10 shipping for a half dozen). Better than you'd usually manage here in Australia for that drop, I think.

These from Winestar take my fancy:
Alkoomi Black Label Shiraz Viognier 2013
Norfolk Rise Shiraz 2014
or the 2015 version
Norfolk Rise Shiraz 2015
Mystery YV122 Yarra Valley Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012
It's the Sticks Yarra Valley Vineyard Select Willowlake A8 Block; split a dozen with a friend a couple of weeks ago and we're both ploughing through them!

I've chosen my Winestar selection and boomed.

Seppelt Jaluka Chardonnay 2015 x 2 - JH96, CM94
Hoddles Creek Chardonnay 2015 x 2 - CM91/92
Alkoomi Black Label Shiraz Viognier 2013 x 2 JH96
In Dreams Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2014 x 2 JH95

I wore the $10 penalty for only buying 8 and got this haul for $14.24 per bottle delivered inc the AMEX $50 cashback. Happy :-)

Am considering

Seppelt Jaluka Chardonnay 2015 x2: $35.98
Wickhams Road Gippsland Pinot Noir 2015 x2: $35.98
Dandelion Legacy of the Barossa 30yo Pedro Ximenez 375ml x2: $39.98
De Iuliis Hunter Valley Shiraz 2014 x2: $45.98
Singlefile Frankland River Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 x2: $59.98
Te Mata Awatea Cabernet Merlot 2014 x2: $75.98

For a total of $310 - $100 split across 2 cards for my Winestar order. As rhodges said I think it's preferable to take the $10 hit on less than a dozen and be able to choose between a much better range.

Mike Press Cab Sav 2015 x 12
= $155.88 - $50 on one card. $8.82pb

Alkoomi Black Label Shiraz Viognier 2013 x 2 = $35.98
Seppelt Jaluka Chardonnay 2015 x 2 = $35.98
De Iuliis Hunter Valley Shiraz 2014 x 2 = $45.98
Wickhams Road Gippsland Pinot Noir 2015 x 2 = $35.98
Non dozen surcharge = $10
= $163.92 - $50 on another card. $14.24pb

Happy with that, particularly for a month when I wasn't going to buy wine. ;)

Excluded in the Terms and Conditions... not sure how Amex would know however. Would solve a lot of problems!

There's been lots of discussion about this previously.

You wont have a problem buying gift cards and getting the cash back.

Just squeezed in at 2330 last night with the Langton's amex offer. With so many offers round atm I kept putting it off and only remembered at the last minute.

No longer on ebay and only 2 packs left on own site.
Just notice the price markup on the Maverick Grenache.

It seems half the time, the prices on eBay are marked up by 20%, so the 20% off just brings it back to buying on the regular site. E.g. the Allegiance Artisan 2015 is $119 on Cracka/MyWineGuy, but $149 on the Cracke eBay store - take 20% of the Ebay price, and you're no better off than buying direct.

See post 4804. ;) ebay % off deals can't be trusted - retailers just jack up the prices to cover it. If you're lucky you get in just before they jack up the prices, or find something they forgot to change price on. Basically eBay = evil. Paypal = parasites. And on it goes... ;)

Thanks for the advice re: St Henri on the other thread.

Not tried working out the identify myself, but someone here probably knows since it's a restock - secret Adelaide Hills 2013 Shiraz. 96 points from Halliday:

Secret 96pt 2013 Adelaide Hills Shiraz Six Pack

$120 for 6 + delivery.

EDIT: Actually, they made it too bloody easy. Only 1 shiraz from Adelaide Hills on their site from 2013. And wouldn't ya know - 96 from Halliday! This is very likely Chain Of Ponds "The Ledge":

Don't forget to get $25 referral credit if first order (separate thread).
