Thanks and tempting....

By the way, is there any Chardonnay deal from Grays? My friend is looking for good Chardonnay deals.
Not on Grays unfortunately but I spotted couple of Chardonnay secret deals elsewhere but can’t work out what they are. Maybe @redbigot can assist?

Warramunda Liv zak

Couldn’t found the Sam Kim review but this one fits the first line.

Haha - although I don't drink the stuff, I have a friend who mostly drinks just Chardonnay and I have bought a fair bit on Grays for him, mostly under $10pb delivered. He likes the old fashioned buttery-style with some oak flavours so I look for those. I have not bought for him recently and most of the past buys are not there any more. But these would be on my list for him:

Warramunda Estate
Liv Zak Chardonnay 2023
Rating: 93
Stone fruits, vanilla, hazelnut, and brioche mingle in this beautifully composed, elegantly expressed chardonnay. The weight is good, the texture is fine and creamy, and the acidity is bright, making the wine splendidly harmonious and immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2028. $38.00. www.warramundaestate.com.au. Feb 2024.

Bought the Coppermine only to realise I'll be waiting a decade and some judging by the tasting notes
I bought some 2013 a while back and have been summarily unimpressed so far. I have one left, not sure how long I’ll leave it for.

I wonder if this is vintage related

I purchased Ironstone pressings 2017 and it was too acidic and thin, so I sold the rest.
Tried 2018 vintage and it sang beautifully.

Grays have some sort of a satisfaction guarantee although I never tried to use it.

Dead Arm, Coppermine Rd and Twenty-Eight Road (Mataro) used to be regular buys for me from mid-90's until the 2006 vintage. Tasting subsequent vintages, including a couple visits to the winery, failed to impress, with lacking fruit weight and inconsistent acid balance in many wines. That said a visit earlier this year, tasting 2018 Dead Arm and also the 2014, plus Coppermine, and a few other cheaper lines showed things have improved and some might be a buy at the right price, which is not full RRP.

I've used the Gray's guarantee to return a couple of faulty wines and also a couple mis-described and turning up to be something I didn't want and wouldn't buy if the description was accurate. It takes a while for them to process, but there was no resistance/argument on clear-cut cases. In a couple of cases on the cheaper and faulty wines they didn't want the wine back and just refunded me, the wine went down the drain. But they kept selling one of them.

It’s great when the outlaws only drink cleanskins from Uncle Dans !!

I mistakenly early on in my marriage brought some old Hunter Valley Semillon along to a Sunday lunch as a peace offering. To my shock horror I watched my mother in law mix her glass with tonic water. 😂😂
For those looking for cheap plonk for the in laws etc

No amount of aging will tame that tannin bomb. After opening one, I sold the remainder of my 13's @ auction.
I bought a dozen way back when.

Drank one. Not impressed.

The remaining 11 are under the stairs and there they shall remain until I’m really desperate for a last minute gift.
