Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Skye Cellars are offering 6 pack of HARDYS EILEEN HARDY SHIRAZ 2019 for $345.60 ie $57.60 a bottle

And they had the 2018 vintage for $336/6 until recently. These are wines that need 10 years or more to show their best.

My very amateur palate finds young Eileen pretty impressive. Not sure if I'd be patient enough to hold off

Interesting, the most recent Sam Kim note for a Prosperitas wine (not this) list CW Wines as the producer. Dozen Deals have lots from the CW stable. I can't find a SK note for any 2022 Prosperitas Shiraz though, last one was 96 for the 2017 Barossa Shiraz.

Also code EOFY20 takes 20% off the price, $30 less.

DD50 seems to take $50 off
A very predictable Sam Kim review, high RRP = high points

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit – 97 Points
This is gracefully rich and sumptuous, showing blackberry, vanillin oak, cake spice and rich
floral aromas on the nose. The palate is equally gratifying with outstanding depth and power,
superbly structured by gorgeously melded tannins. Multi-layered with seductive complexity,
making it hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2040.

Probably not the best price for Meshach but the sharpest price for 2019 vintage (I presume the latest vintage) $87.50 per bottle in a 6 pack

2012 Shadrach is back down to $66 a bottle in a 3 pack on CellarOne

Langton's Carpe Diem is now on.

Also came across this Two Hands Sexy Beast CS 2022 from eBay which seems to be quite a good price.

This is the mob that sometimes lists lots as a dozen and then ships a 6-pack. Took me a couple of weeks to sort it out last time.

Cheaper here. Looks like an error of quantity. Also Two Hands RRP is $32

Oh, thanks.

Never tried the Two Hands CS before but 12 bottles (if they really shipped out 12 bottles) is bit too much for me. Better skip it.

I would hazard to guess that it is not an error, as the winery is selling it under $25 a bottle

Paying $15.50 for it ie 38ish % discount is a sharp price but it is within the realm of realities in the wine business.

Nicks is now offering Burge Family Draycott Reserve Shiraz cheap. It's done the rounds lately. Any one tried it?
I posted elsewhere:
Bought on Vinomofo, advertised as screwcap sealed, but arrived with natural cork seal, bottle is lighter than the Draycott 2018 that was sold previously.
The cork looks reasonable high quality, but not "reserve grade" long and the base is only lightly stained.
The wine itself is dense dark red, no magenta, purple or crimson, just deep dark red.
The nose has a fair amount of mocha oak showing, no cedar or vanilla, just espresso char, with ripe red plums (Doris or otherwise) trying to make a showing.
The fruit they picked was definitely at the right time, perfectly evenly ripe, bright and fresh, no hint of prunes (or heat) despite 15% a/v. Great mid-palate weight, lush mouth feel and then the oak and tannin kicks in and the finish is a little drying at present, spoiling the carry of the fruit and leaving a slightly furry aftertaste.
Acid initially seemed a little bright, but settled nicely with food.

Hmm, 97 points? Definitely a good wine, but I don't get the length of the finish peckel found, maybe I should have given it more air time.
I used a $25 code when buying, so around $30pb, I'll probably keep it.

Then I changed my mind after the last sip and the furry dry character lingered, maybe a slight cork issue, but back it goes.

quite a few cheapies, including champagne, but best buy is perhaps 2020 Domaine Lionnet Cornas Terre Brulee $60 (Vinomofo had 2019)

In for the caves road- previous vintage scored 97 points by Ray Jordan:

Cherubino Ovale Caves Road Chardonnay 2022

Cherubino
  • 97 points
  • Cellar 10 years
  • Margaret River
  • Chardonnay
As the name suggests the fruit comes from a number of vineyards down this famous road from Karridale, through Wallcliffe through to Wilyabrup. It is such a vibrant and lively crunchy wine with tremendous life in the palate. Distinctive citrus tang with grapefruit and quince paste melon characters. Traces of white peach and a fresh sea spray contribute to the dry slightly savoury finish.
Regular price $55.00
