I didn't know 767 were manufactured as narrow bodies and that DJ has got their hands on one.If you watch the clip it is a narrow body 767-800, clearly a special order:shock:.

Wait until Xmas and the singing of carols for entertainment on board.
I'd much prefer they just get Santas handing out choccies to the kids like QF do (in the airport)
Saw this recent post on youtube...seriously? Please tell your staff to grow up! If I was on this flight, I would never come back. No big deal I guess, but how many others might do the same.
Sorry, but DJ can make all the changes in the world to Velocity, status match, add a decent J product, ditch baggage check fees, include refreshemnts in the base fare and all the rest of it, but until it shakes this kind of image - including from staff who can sometimes be almost as bad - I'll be spending my money elsewhere.
EDIT: Just watched the vid and WOW... why wasn't I on this flight?!

I wonder if it was a 'no touching' sort of thing, like at a strip club
it's called a 757 but unfortunately none flying in Australia. Actually a very efficient aircraft and would have been very well suited to trans-continental, trans-Tasman, Pacific Island and Bali routes if it were acquired when new.I didn't know 767 were manufactured as narrow bodies

I am clearly confused. I know of 767's and 757's and as far as I am aware DJ does not have any 767's or 757's.it's called a 757 but unfortunately none flying in Australia.

The video clip on youtube is clearly misleading then as the title mentions a Virgin 767-800.
So can anyone confirm if this event actually happened or is it a hoax/publicity stunt?

LOL, or not be able to put the oxygen mask over their mouth AND nose, nor find the extra bits on the life jacket (e.g. to manually inflate them). You need to remember that the video was purportedly produced by footballers. It seems perfectly normal that they would mix up a 6 and 3.
A little birdie told me that it actually did happen,my contact tells me that it was
DJ 1421 on the 22nd of October,I have no way of verifying the details but my contact
has a girlfriend who is a DJ employee so I think there is a reasonable chance that it's accurate.
I very much want DJ to become a real competitive option to QF for domestic travel. They need to iron out all of the old 'childish' Virgin Blue first. There is no reason that DJ need to become a stuffy nana airline...friendly, professional service with a smile and some personal interaction is in no way 'stuffy' and 'nana' like! But childish carry on on the PA and unprofessional staff behaving like school children doesn't do it for me either. If I wanted a stuffy nana airline I would fly Qantas...!

Sad thing is, under pressure in a real emergency - how many others would be the same?
If it was young females performing the media, and people here, would be going crazy with PC rubbish.
One thing is that DJ seem to put up (or their pax seemed to like doing this) the armrests, only to tell everyone that these must be lowered before take-off. In the USA, they seem to put them up as well, but seem to have no qualms if they remain up.
I actually think it is a good idea. It certainly makes getting into the seats that little bit easier. Was just reading a review of a flight on DJ in the trip reports section, and came across this comment...
On the times Ive flown DJ too I have noticed this and wondered to myself why the armrests are all put up on the turn, only to have the crew walk through and ask everyone to put them down before takeoff? If they were just put down by the crew during the clean, it would be one less thing the crew would have to do during their secure, and I saw some passengers slightly annoyed with being asked to put them down when they never put them up...its the small things! I also think the cabin is presented better when they're down.
Crazydave or other is there a method to this madness?
