I had an interesting experience changing a DJ booking today. There were a few web issues, I think related to the work network and also maybe virgin blue network. At one stage I was there clicking on the pay now button with nothing happening. Which is scarey to think about being charged multiple change fees. I called to check that I had been charged, and got straight through to a person. :)

Tried to change again online more problems, So I rang again, straight through again and this time the CSR sat on the phone while I tried again to change. They confirmed the change once it was done. No assisted booking fee, (does DJ have such a fee?) nothing. :D

I wondered if this experience was part of the new DJ.

I also made some chat with the CSR about the new boss and what are the changes like. They were a bit concerned about losing the happy and fun atmosphere of DJ. Having worked in both happy and unhappy workplaces, I could really sympathise. I know that many don't like the "flair" and see it as unprofessional. (personally I don't mind) But it seems to me that it would be much better to flying on an airline where staff enjoy their workplace and want to go to work, rather that feel they need to drag themselves into work.

"Happy and fun" doesn't have to mean "silly antics and unprofessionalism". I enjoy my job and manage to have a great deal of fun whilst being professional, so I'd say that ensuring staff engagement is a problem for the line managers at DJ to deal with.

I totally agree that the customer shouldn't see the happy and fun part of the workplace (or silliness). Just found the connection between less "flair" and an enjoyable workplace interesting. I think this might be due to youthful inexperience of workplaces.

Also, when I say I don't mind the "flair", I probably mean I ignore it (should have explained that better). Knowing there this staff concern makes it easier for me to ignore.
Anyway I just found it interesting.

Whether or not someone enjoys their work comes down to the individual. If having a supervisor ask you to do your job properly = unhappy workplace then that's not a problem with management but rather with the individual. A lot of people fear change for the sake of fearing change, they want everything to stay the same because that's where they are comfortable. Change does not have to mean for the worse.

man, I was just reporting an interest comment that came up in a casual conversation with a CSR while battling slow internet. It was just an off hand comment to say that it would be sad to lose their fun and happy atmosphere. Certainly it was a comment that requires major analysis of hidden meanings. For the record there was no suggestion at all of fear or change. In fact, to get to fine details that they said they were looking forward to see what the change would bring.

I noticed this week flying PER-SYD I was addressed by surname, but the silly jokes came out (most noticeably during the safety demonstration). Coming home yesterday I was addressed by first name but there were no silly jokes.

I haven't got the silly jokes for quite a while flying with DJ. Whether they address me with First Name/Surname has changed from crew to crew, but I do like the fact that, on the last 10 or so flights I've had with them, I've been greeted with a 'Welcome back, stuartfaz'.

Little things :)

Dear John,

Can you please pull out of domestic services in New Zealand. Your fares are over the top and usually more expensive than NZ.

How can you expect to keep and run a viable company in the NZ domestic market?

Regarding the facebook sale, I clicked on the offered fare for rockhampton to brisbane, but nothing happened. Was I supposed to click something else? Thanks. I then just went to the normal website to book a return fare for the whole trip to/from Melbourne because I like Virgin. But for the next facebook exclusive, I'd like to know what I did wrong. cheers.

Qantas Ski Club is accepting those in our 1500-strong club who are referred by our manager (ex Ansett Staff Ski Club). Does Virgin have anything like that? We get a swag of deals like trips to Vail, decent discounts at Thredbo and Peridsher, free demos from Head Skiis, free gloves from Reusch, and free condo suites at some US resorts. And Qantas land in LA in the morning which is very attractive to many. Cheers

Dunno what you're complaining about. I'd pay extra to be on that flight. ;)

Srsly? :( I thought this sort of rubbish had stopped ... definitely nothing like my most recent flights on DJ.

Wait until Xmas and the singing of carols for entertainment on board.

I'd much prefer they just get Santas handing out choccies to the kids like QF do (in the airport)

Is this a joke? Also when did DJ get 767-800's?

If you watch the clip it is a narrow body 767-800, clearly a special order:shock:.
I would have thought this was against the rules as pax surely cannot do the safety demo, let alone do a strip at the same time.
