Declining levels of IFE

So what happens to those (like me) who do not own a 'BYO device' or if they did own one they do not want to cart it everywhere with them on their travels?
Sorry, no IFE for you?
From the website:
"With the Samsung Galaxy Tab guests can enjoy a selection of blockbuster and classic movies, popular TV shows and a variety of music, all on a 10.1 inch high-definition screen. Available on selected Virgin Australia domestic and international short haul flights, Samsung Galaxy Tabs are offered complimentary to Business class guests. On flights over three hours, the Tabs are also offered free-of-charge to guests travelling on a Flexi fare, and guests travelling on a Saver fare may hire a Tab for just $15.00 AU (subject to availability)."

The option is there (subject to availability of course).

Yep the families with 2-3 kids will need 5 iPads for their flight

Hilarious

Not sure there are many kids flying without a device these days, can't say I saw any bored kids on the four VA flights I did with my 4 year old over the school holidays, and the best flight according to him was the new streaming solution because it had content he likes and watches on ABC2, LTA was second because of that.

The next few years will be interesting in this regard! But yes Virgin is not a full service carrier, yet they charge pretty much the same price as QF

Given QF's July and August traffic figures showed a decline in yields and load factors, whilst VA's load factors increased in those months (Cookies must be enabled. | The Australian), and Alan Joyce recently said that Qantas was likely to lose money this year (Cookies must be enabled. | The Australian), perhaps passengers don't value full-service carriers that much?

I doubt that - I am a WP in both.

I have found domestically, VA prices are averaging around 10%-15% cheaper than QF's. Luggage not an issue as I don't check it.

Also, I can generally get front row economy on VA upon booking, whereas with QF I have to work at it. That is a very significant facet for this Double Platinum black duck.

As far as IFE goes, with over 150 flights intro North America I am quite used to having my own device ...

10% is pretty much the same price in my books, I couldn't care less about a $10-$20 saving here and there

I do care, therefore, to me, your statement is incorrect.

FWIW, there's a reason I used percentages rather than actual $ figures. $10-$20 might be 'nothing' to me on a $1000 fare, but significant on an $120 fare.

I don't care and to me your statement is incorrect

A $10 saving is still not even a consideration for me, regardless of the fare being $1000 or $120

A couple of spirits in the lounge and getting another snack and more drinks onboard and a proper level of service is worth every $ spent

serfty, lovestotravel said "in my books...I couldn't care less" so it's difficult to argue that s/he is incorrect

Yep glad you noticed that :)

Everyone has an opinion and that's it, but I just don't see the appeal of VA, which is weird as being younger than most on here, I should like Virgin's more "funky" attitude more than QF's old school attitude.

It might be stupid to you lovestotravel but when you look at the way in which you have a crack at the VF experience when you say you dont/wont travel with them it just makes me wonder thats all. Its an observation which I don't believe is stupid. Any time you want to hand over an apology I will accept it. Cheers

I think we've noted your opinion regarding VA, but coming on every VA thread to espouse how lousy they are is getting tiresome. Especially when many of your "arguments" are your opinion rather than fact.

Every VA thread ? Care to double check that ? If you don't like what I read, ignore/don't read :) Pretty simple

I think your "argument" about me being on every VA thread is opinion rather than fact

Age has nothing to do with attitude.

OK, i'll retract every and replace with multiple.

It's still tiresome.

You could also ignore the VA threads.
