I had it marked down in my calendar to do and forgot to do it! my plan was to leave enough in velocity for a
J return to Hawaii and transfer the rest across. I have been loving the Kris flyer J availability and service. Oh well might just have to rely on my Amex accrual for Kris

Moved most of our points over. 1.7 million. Only 100k left. Only left the 100k as may have to move Amex points over in April and also as there may be some uses foe velocity points occasionally.

Surprise surprise Krisflyer has just announced as of JAN 24 2019 redemption rates increase !!
I’m glad I didn’t put all my eggs in one basket with the transfer

This game is becoming less fun with all these changes going on...

I wonder if the game will only be playable for the ones who can put a mil or more on cards every year in a few years if not sooner

Transferred the exact amount of points I needed to do my plans.

Maybe I'll ask sq to comp me the 35% to go back to VFF.

Likewise , I did exactly 156k , the exact amount for Melbourne to tunis which we are planning on doing 2020

Yes same that I did. Even calculated the exact points in my MR account (plan is to use the other half’s cards for a while now).

Back to the calculator I guess.

With the Amex deval, velocity transfer decrease and now Kris increase, there may be merit in revising which program is actually the best. QF might be a bit more competitive.

I intended to transfer my remaining Velocity balance to KF by 31 December and store it there, but I luckily had a redemption opportunity on SQ so was able to transfer and redeem before the devaluation of the transfer and KF redemptions!

I'm currently based overseas, so the intention was always to draw down my Velocity balance to 0 by transferring to KF as needed but the change expedited this. If I were to return to Australia, I would probably not seek to build up my Velocity stash again and focus on QFF.

While the answer is different for each of us, a bit more is still way less in my case.

It is still for most of my flights:
- way more $ due to fuel fines
- more points
- way way WAY harder to get J and F when and where I want to fly and moreso as I normally want 2 or more seats at once. (Well in many ways this is probably the most crucial point)
- not as good service or product wise (though with both program alliance bookings do muddy the waters)

However QFF points are easier to come by (QFF's main advantage if are not buying flights(or your work buys them) when status comes into play). However I will remain as putting all possible points to Krisflyer that I can gain ata reasonable cost in $ or effort while also still earing QFF and Velocity points when it makes more, or only, sense to bank the points there.

Same, and now I need to earn some more. SIA can do what they want I guess, but it’s a cynical move. There must have been millions of points flowing into KrisFlyer over the last month. Imagine if they ‘enhanced’ the program by canning the VA link/transfer. What a nightmare that would be.

I moved 600k (~60%) of my VA points to SQ. And even with the valuation increase, still think it was a great idea.

Now to get those Australia to French Polynesia tickets booked....
