Looking at renting a car for 5 days in the Gold Coast in July, any current discount codes available for online car rental?

I have Qantas Gold, NAB AMEX, Westpac Black cards, any linked promotion going on?

Thanks

Not sure if you have a Mastercard, but I saw this yesterday twitter.com/AussiePoints/status/699909314002046976 (for Hertz)

Thanks for the link. Tried the 10% off and the 10% off with 2 class upgrade, no luck, same price as a normal booking via cashrewards.

If you have RACV or another motoring club membership they often have slightly discounted rates.

Hertz PC code 106960 for 15% off when you rent for 5 days minimum.
Always good to try using accounts (Hertz Gold) and see if the discount is better when you're signed in to your account vs regular visitor.
As mentioned, your roadside assist sometimes offers discounts.
106960

Also, I sometimes find places like expedia work out cheaper.
If you have pricepal you'll get an additional 3% cash back (I think that's what expedia gives you)

Most coupons are only short term - July is a little too far out at this time. In the travel industry 31 March is the end of many contract rates etc so see what pops up in April.

Does this code work even I'm making a booking for someone who isn't a Hertz loyalty member?

Thanks!!!!

I check vroomvroomvroom.com.au for cheapest rate
then I've been looking through the IHG website to book through them as you get a discount of 35% off car, and up to 1000 pts for hertz, I think around 25% off Avis and hertz. The counter guy said I wouldn't have beaten my rate booking via hertz. IHG etc is free to join and worth the reduced rate IMO.
i booked Europcar via Accor for 15% off but yet to have points post. They gave me the speedy pick up service too as I'd joined Europcar for free. (Actually I joined all of them for speedy service but it may not work booking through other sites but I'd rather take the discount).
i check with the VA site also
SPG also offers a 30% discount and 50pt/day SPG for budget
HH has offers but T&C seem to say Avis and budget are US and Canadian residents only in US locations. I think sixt is OK worldwide booking through them.

I'm still learning and moseying around sites but that's what I've worked out and now using. I like getting the cheaper rates though.
just go to the "earn" and then "partners" section of the hotel websites.

I think I have a Hertz voucher somewhere from answering a survey - let's see if I can find where I filed it..

I did a dummy book using my comlimentary Hertz Gold Plus Rewards through Amex for $52.13/day.

How does this compare to your searches?

You may need to play around with your profile to get the rate down. This is how my profile is set up for Australia;
Australian Optional Insurances:
Decline All Optional Services: Decline

For me the bonus is not so much the upfront discount but the overall discount provided by being able to hire a vehicle a class below that which you would like and likely receiving the better vehicle.

Gee, I hadn't even considered my work Amex - I had 5 screens open checking rates via IHG, Virgin, Qantas, Accor and direct (Hertz 5* but still have CDP for Pres Circle showing) and even paid with my Amex :o. Have added Amex to my list, thanks prozac! (But wouldn't have been useful for this 1 day hire, but have a 5+ days hire coming up)

My understanding is that if it's the CDP that is showing on Page 1, then the discount will have been automatically added when viewing rates on Page 2 - but I'm no expert...

Check by opening another tab and DON'T sign in, just do a quote for similar rental as Mr Joe public...

What I should have said was the only discount indicated on the booking page is "Amex Benefits".
I may have to call and have a chat about setting my profile for Australian bookings (usually I do Euro bookings). When I do not log in I get a figure for SV6 Holden of $286. When I log in this figure moves to $342 for Premium Auto (Group P) PCAR. Hmmmmm.

Can't get any sense out of Hertz call centre for the dummy Australian booking so did another dummy, this time for a European location. Straight away the 10% difference is clear between booking logged-in and not logged in. I would be comfortable making this booking knowing I would get free additional driver included and an automatic upgrade to a better vehicle. Last time this meant when I booked a manual Volvo S60 I received a brand new Merc C180 Wagon at the S60 manual rate. Additionally the different Hertz employees at different parts of the chain kept telling me what a valued customer I was because I had Gold Plus Rewards membership.

OK back to the Australian dummy booking. Can't explain why the discount is not immediately evident in the booking but figure it probably has something to do with the way I have set up my profile, although I am sure I would be told I was a valued customer when I collect the vehicle.

Apologies for the thread drift.
