Discrimination - Earn double Status credits on eligible Qantas flights

Yes, agree, sounds like inflation in a failed African state, lets increase the cost of something (the SC qualifying levels) and then print more money (give double SC opportunities). Can someone answer the question, did Virgin start all this double SC business here in AUS.

What is the difference in moving the goal posts, if your going to *cheat* your way (using AA K/Y'UP flights) to WP?
I see no difference in QF offering "x2 SC Promos" to someone using AA First runs.
Not that there is anything wrong with it. Who doesn't want a short cut? (everyone)

If WP was increased to 2400 SC I wouldn’t stand a chance of getting there, and I’d imagine quite a few others would drop too, and QFF would lose members to other carriers FFP’s.

But you think it is quite OK to "hand" someone status who would not have otherwise got there with their normal travel and will not spend any extra money with Qantas but would now have Platinum status instead of Gold status?

How is that going to generate more revenue?

I can now see how all those Virgin flyers who earnt status by flying felt about Virgin giving away status with the status match....

QF can make bonus offers like this (which of course they're under no obligation to make) under any conditions they like.

If you already have a bunch of flights booked, I can understand your disappointment that flights already booked aren't eligibile for the bonus SCs, but personally I'd be happy if I were you - at least you got the email

After calling QFF they say bad luck the promotion is available on a select basis

That's an awful lot of sc since February1 for someone who is only a gold.... Just saying this must be a wind up. Maybe you can spend some of your millions of points on a couple of f seats, and don't stress , at this rate you will have lifetime gold by September so sc won't count anyway

I got the email but if it's any consolation to those who didn't it's the first targeted double SC offer I have received in living memory. Anyway since I have stacks of QFF points it motivated me to go and book a JASA I have had a hankering to do: the MEL - PER - BRN - MEL overnight triangle route. Worth 440SCs now.

Thats how I move up the status food chain with JASA and FASA seats. But these are not always available!

1/ It "MAY" generate more revenue by enticing said newly-minted-WP with the golden handcuffs.

(I know my QF flying has increased in the last 2 years since attaining WP - without any double promotion).


2/ If they don't fly extra - then who cares - they're not taking your row 4, they're not taking your lounge space, and they're not eating your curry. Unless you're jealous that someone else can now use their shiny card to join TonyHancock's DYKWIA club ??

No - I've never felt discriminated against when not receiving this in the past.

With all due respect - I think you're being precious. You clearly have no difficulty attaining status and don't need the help.

And if you have so many points that you don't know what to do with them - i'll happily ease you of your burden

Exactly my experience also, I am self employed and always tell my staff that the next 100 dollars is likely to come from the person who has already spent 1000 dollars at the business rather than trying to extract 100 dollars from someone who has never spent here.

Unless someone can find a criteria that Qantas used to specifically exclude people when randomising the offer, you can hardly call it discrimination. Perhaps tough luck is what you've received.

And for what it's worth, I didn't receive the offer either.

Had you got it you may have been the same level in both though, so Qantas were hard done by not offering it to you

Well I didn't get it either,feeling terribly disappointed ,only one thing for it,I'm just going to have to eat more of those free bars I won in the Cadbury promotion,
at least I felt the love from them..
