Discrimination - Earn double Status credits on eligible Qantas flights

I think the WP1's that didn't get any DSC love are feeling a little decrimination;)

Thats how I move up the status food chain with JASA and FASA seats. But these are not always available!

WOnder if those who dont think its discrimination are the ones who rec'd the SC email offer??

The reason why they're called "any seat awards" is because they're ALWAYS available - at least as long as there are seats left.

Discrimination is what happens when people don't want to give you a job because you're black/disabled/gay/etc or when you don't get a job because you're a woman and you'll probably want to take maternity leave or something, or when you're attacked and bashed for being the "wrong" race.

It's not missing out on a double status credits offer - seriously, get over it!

I know with my own targeted marketing and offering specials it is always geared towards gaining extra profitable business, but care has to be given to those already spending well at my business, most of the top end people are really not interested in saving a few dollars, they are more interested in my business being there when they need me to be.

Now I am WP with Qantas it is not about getting a few more SCs as a bonus, it is more about getting me on a flight at short notice as this is the nature of my life these days and not wasting my time on the main line when I can call the platinum line and enjoying the F Lounges and bags first off the plane and express through customs etc, when I land in Sydney off Q12, I try to connect to PQQ within 40 minutes so that I can be in the office working a normal day and not wasting the day with the next flight to PQQ after noon. WP helps me achieve this.

To me discrimination with respect to targeted marketing is when you deliberately leave people off the list because you don't like their religion, race, sex etc. Otherwise if targeting marketing is based on economic factors that affect MY business, then that is OK, and if Qantas target certain ffs for economic reasons which affect THEIR business and it is OK by me. And if I were to be left off their list, then that is OK by me.

If you complain about being off the SC bonus list, just imagine if you were running your own business, would you like someone dictating to you the people which you should be targeting with specials.

I did receive the offer, but was not expecting it as I got it this time last year.

However if I missed out this year I would be disappointed (who wouldn't) but I wouldn't be saying discrimination..

I'm exactly the same as nlagalle, got it last year, but not this year.

I think if the double status credits was something that was offered to a large proportion of the QFF membership base, then it would significantly devalue the benefits on offer with the program. Certainly not discrimination IMO.

You’re more of a Virgin flyer than a Qantas one though :p

Had you got it you may have been the same level in both though, so Qantas were hard done by not offering it to you ;)

That is so true on all counts ;)

I made several bookings for Apr May Jun and then I received this too! I'm going to call them tomorrow and make sure I get the offer included in my flights.

Good luck with that, I don't think it will fly!

It doesn't work like that- the whole point of thte offer, from Qantas's point of view, is to get people to make NEW bookings. Not always successful, for those of us (like me) who book fully flex through a travel agent and who can just cancel bookings and have the agent rebook as new bookings.

To take your example further, it would be discrimination if they didn’t give you the offer because you were black/disabled/gay/etc and you could prove that it was a criteria they used to exclude those people.

and if they increased the fare by 20% since you made the bookings, would you ring Qantas and offer to pay more, like I already said, the only way you will know if you ever have scored a good or bad deal is in hindsight, guess that you have just found this out.

2/ If they don't fly extra - then who cares - they're not taking your row 4, they're not taking your lounge space, and they're not eating your curry. Unless you're jealous that someone else can now use their shiny card to join TonyHancock's DYKWIA club ;)??
I guess that is one way of looking at it.

But they are taking me row 4 and they are using my lounge space. If they did not have the double SCs offer then they would not have the status to go with it and they would not be sitting in my row 4 nor eating my curry in the lounge! ;)

Why is it wrong to be against the double SCs promotion? I don't want someone to get something for nothing. I can understand if people were offered 50SCs extra for their next international booking but I do not understand gifting someone 200SCs-300SCs-400SCs because they have more QFF points than they can use.

Anyway it would appear that I am totally wrong again for going against the popular trend on AFF....

Actually I do understand - and I do agree with your last point.

That said - remember that if they don't maintain the flying then they will drop down and no longer be in (or have access to) the lounges.

If if they do maintain the flying - then QF have won increased business.

The OP feel discriminated against - so be it (and the title).

More than 70 posts, and I'm just adding another one. Definiteley time to unsubcribe from this thread.

I have received the same email/letter indicating that dom flights Apr-Jun would receive 2 x SCs. Got it last year too, but am actually in a position to take advantage this year. Would anyone shed any light on whether flights booked by work through QBT would enjoy the same treatment? The eligibility rules seem fairly generic - book and travel in Apr-Jun, but I'm keen to know because it will mean going from QP NB to SG in two weeks if it's the case. Here's hoping....

I don't feel discriminated against though...

Its just a promotion so Alan Joyce and co can discriminate against his frequent flyers, yep work bookings made within the rules apply if booked to your QFF Acount. Enjoy.
