Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Rupert the Cat from Melbourne was found in Traralgon over 160kms away. They think he took the train.

A missing pet cat who disappeared from his West Melbourne home and turned up in Traralgon, about 165 kilometres away, is believed to have hitched a lift with a train.
Rupert's owner Bec Gilchrist said she nearly ran her car off the road when she received a phone call from Latrobe City Council to say her ginger cat had been discovered in the Latrobe Valley town, about a two-hour drive from Melbourne.
Ms Gilchrist said Rupert, usually an easily-spooked homebody, had run away from her West Melbourne backyard on February 18.

I love stories like this but they also make me sad because I think about how scared the poor thing would have been when it got lost and for so long! :(

Rupert's owner actually found him in a rubbish bin as a kitten. So this Kitty probably already issues to begin with.

Dozens of missing posters and 200 letters to neighbours failed to find the two-year-old cat, who Ms Gilchrist hand-reared after finding him dumped in a rubbish bin as a kitten.

Our little girl has improved re-markedly, so much that after postponing our trip, we are now going to go, although it is later than originally planned and is only two weeks instead of three.
It seems that she has a low grade infection and given her age this has showed up as some strange symptoms.

Fingers crossed that she has a few more years left in her yet!

so good to hear she is on the mend. I thought for sure when I got the notification it was sad news and almost didn't read it.

You'll never Guess what distracted me from one of life 's most important duties?

Whilst on my way to have some of that delicious & all important liquid gold at the Sapporo Brewery in Japan, I got distracted by discovering one of Japan's famous quirky attractions.....

Yes.... A cat cafe!

Here's a few more pictures of my fur-ball friends I met today .

I think the cats really did feel like I was a " Cool Cat" coming in to check them out!ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1401358829.463454.jpgImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1401358875.319056.jpgImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1401359096.921809.jpgImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1401359127.309813.jpgImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1401359143.627740.jpg

An update, we pushed back our trip as she was responding really well, dropped her at the cattery on the way to the airport, there is a Vet attached who checked her and said worse case scenario was that she wouldn't survive, but she insisted it was more likely things would be ok.

Plane leaves in 2 hours, get to the airport, Erika and I talk about what to do re cancelling tickets at such a late stage. Tried talking to the service desk and was told to call reservations, went to the Q business Lounge and big "thank yous" to Alana, she spoke to a friend and to cut along story short, Erika decided not to go and I shortened the then already shortened stay by a week.

She has stage 4/4 of kidney failure, with a special diet she may live for a while longer, but at least she will have one of us there and I'll count down the hours.

Hasn't been a good year, the other "old girl" died in early March, so we are dealing with wills and probate and all that stuff at the moment as well. 2015 can't come soon enough.

I had a horror year like that a few years ago, and not to be a downer, but the following one was a bit cough as well. I do agree though that keeping your eye on the future and reminding yourself that this too shall pass does help. I hope she's comfortable and happy that one of you is taking her home to spend more time with her. *hugs*

Oh, one other thing: where are you? We generally get Lonely Pets Club in to look after Barry when we go away, but would love a recommendation to a quality cattery. We've only put him in one over the years and he completely freaked out and we've never done it since.

We are in Canberra, well Erika is, I'm in Alghero for Rally Italy. She has picked up a lot, hasn't stopped talking. I'm so glad Erika decided to stay. Comfort Cattery is really good and they have been great with ours over the years.
Our cats have always been spoilt rotten, I think now that Tani may be even more so.

One of my kittens is sick this AM :(
Woke up and had to clean up some sort of mess, not eating and not moving much. Didn't groom himself either.

Have patients to see so Dad is taking him to the vet, but over the last 2 hours has picked up and had a small bit to eat.

Could be something as simple as a fur ball. Fingers crossed. My cats throw up from time to time and go off their food.

Yeah, vet is happy with him now. The cat is very sooky even when well so I think he was just feeling sorry for himself. Sure he will pick up today.

Sadly our Pushka had to be put to sleep last Thursday. She was an aged cat and had more than used up her lives. She was a stray that came into our lives as a tiny kitten but was very feisty even back then. That continued all her life. She was pretty tough defending herself against other cats, possums and would take dogs on. She sent me to the Drs on more than a few occasions when she decided a bite was necessary. A little difficult when you take on a user name based on your pet.

Sorry to hear that - it's very tough losing a furry family member :-(

We've lost three in three years - it doesn't get any easier, but adopting another one does fill the hole they left, even though it of course can't replace them.

Thankyou everyone. She's gone missing a few times in her life and I always found that much more distressing as you wonder what is happening to her, so in a strange way this seemed just more natural given her age and therefore just part of nature's cycle.
