Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

So was he just there for check up and shots?
Who's minding him when you go away?
Yep, all basic. I did mention he drank a lot of water but always has done so of course he ran through the list of things that might be wrong. We have to get a urine sample but not doing anything until we get back. He is almost 9 years old now! I think he’s fine. He’s lost a little weight, maybe 200 grams since last weigh but again he’s been quite healthy.

Son is coming in for 4 weeks.

I have only just read your post @Milboo and am sorry to hear your sad news.

Thanks a lot.

It’s funny how quickly we’ve adapted to life without him. The dog’s bed in the lounge can stay down at night, there is a nice new hallway runner and the lint roller sits unused.

Every so often it hits me like a brick that he’s not here anymore.

He came home in his little box last week though - and the dog still gets told to look after his brother when I leave the house. Something I’ve said for a good few years.

The lady with the cats for adoption at my local pet store indulges me and lets me have kitten cuddles when I’m there to buy dog food.

After my recent jaunt to Hong Kong I went to the Pet Hotel to collect Miss Petal. She stays in the same suite each time and is treated like the princess she is.

There are three suites along the wall with windows to the outside, the inside of the cat room and clear perspex to the suite beside.

All of the suites have a high cat perch where the guests can take in the view and lord it over the cats in the smaller accommodation. The three cats in the suites were all on their perch looking outside, each studiously ignoring the other cats beside them. From the left, cat one (Petal) was at approximately the 10 o'clock position. Cat two in the middle was looking dead ahead at the 12 o'clock position and cat three was at the two o'clock position.

It was hilarious to see and the staff tell me it is common for cats to either pretend they can't see other cats or try and bully them to get lower than them even if they're in another area.

The only time Petal has ever pleasantly engaged with another cat was when a kitten was in the next suite and the two of them sat on the ground for hours talking to each other through the perspex. The staff were amazed, Petal loves human contact and will willingly cuddle up to the staff but is contemptuous of other cats and wants to dominate or intimidate them.

Hello fellow cat owners/fans - I have a Bengal (probably half Bengal) who is adorable as he is vocal. Our one main gripe with him is that he will pee in/on water sources. We provided him with a water fountain - he'd pee in it. We'd clean it out, fill with fresh water, he'd pee in it. Water bowl on the floor. Water bowl in the bath or sink - pee. We caught him drinking from the toilet, then later on I caught him peeing in the toilet. The latest has been a cup of water (a for humans plastic tumbler cup) and he was doing so well until the other day. Pee.

Has anyone ever had a similar issue? He's otherwise healthy. And it's not like he hasn't got three litter trays to choose from, which he does use as well.

Beautiful, seriously considering a Bengal for our next.

With your issue, somebody on here said that you should keep water bowls and food bowls very separate.

A bit of a quick search shows that in early generation Bengals this is a common issue as they apparently defecate in water in the wild as a way of 'hiding' their scent. But this doesn't help you.

One suggestion was to put water in a kitty litter box and to get a water fountain, but you have tried a fountain, so sorry, I'm not of much help.

I'm going to try that! He probably won't like drinking from something that's sitting in his toilet, but since he has drunk actual toilet water, perhaps it won't be an issue... And if he does pee on the cup it'll be caught by the tray. Genius.

Oh I can't believe I forgot to mention it. His name is Earl. He may look innocent, though he sure does get into some mischief. But he's mostly a good boy. A very affectionate lap cat :)

Any progress on the cat issue? What happened with the beetle?
