Guest cats last day here today. She (black cat) has taken possession of her new favourite place, the arm of my chair, which also happens to be one of the favourite places of our cat.

So of course he takes up residence on the next arm.

What could possibly go wrong.

Boxing match. All good. They both ran off together.

Oops! Was Bella wanting to cut up some food for herself or perhaps threaten Miss Daisy? (is there another doggie as. well?)
Daisy wasn’t even born yet. Heck, I hadn’t even met TV back then. Bella has always had a thing for pushing stuff off the bench, I think it’s just attention seeking. And yes there’s another dog, Lola.

That’s right Lola - I just couldn’t remember her name. Bella sounds like some of the cars we have had. They would look you in the eye while pushing stuff off tables, cabinets etc- Sabie, daughter’s cat, prefers to flush the toilet to get attention. She has already broken one mechanism. She very smart and knows exactly where to push.

A few months after reporting the 16 year old cat diagnosis of IBD (see # 1547, 27 March 2019), she became distressed when using the kitty litter.
So she was taken to a veterinary hospital and stayed overnight while tests were done. The blood test showed a very high white cell count, indicating her immune system was dealing with a lot of issues.

Further medication would have been intrusive, add more stress, and only prolonged her steady decline in quality of life (she had lost 10% of her body weight in 8 weeks). So the decision was made she would be better off with a permanent sleep on the big cat castle in cat paradise.

This photo shows her after her 2018 xmas lunch (smoked salmon, roast chicken breast, turkey and a few prawns) resting in her basket.

Catzilla 25-12-2018.jpg

I previously posted a photo of her in her prime, dominating the household (see # 808, 1 November 2016).

Near the end of the Godzilla KotM movie, after the Battle for Boston, there is the following dialogue:
Rick Stanton [about Godzilla]: “Good thing he's on our side.”
Ilene Chen: “For now.”

She was very similar, a real Catzilla.

So sorry to hear this Spongbob. Even though she was a good age, it is always a wrench to say goodbye. She certainly looked in fine fettle at her Christmas lunch. I can imagine she was a terror in her prime! And I did laugh at the 'cat in the bowl' photo.

@Spongbob Sorry to read that. But I always think it's better to act too soon with loved pets than hang on, so good on you for being brave. Much love to you and your family.

Our big boys gaze down at me from high in their cat tree (got it from cat tree king, specifically for big cats) - one hammock holding 17+kg of Pushkin (Siberian), Smokey (blue burm) and Khan (sable burm)... the best part of working from home :)
