Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Not having any trips away for the foreseeable future was finally the right timing to get a couple of furry friends. So I won't be abandoning them soon after they settle in. Travelling so much had its downside!

I'm planning - hoping - to do the same thing when I get released from isolation this week.

The AWL in Adelaide has been inundated with requests for cats. If I wasn't in a rental I think I would have got one too - it was really weird I was lying in the bed this week and thinking I really want to get another cat

Sad :) :)

I've had a look on-line and it seems I'm a bit late to the party

huh ?

Try the qld cat cottage at Capalaba , linda is also on faceache and has had a steady stream of moggs looking for a servant.
Do you want me to start cross posting pics ?

Should have added that I'm in Tas. Getting puss from QLD would be difficult. There are cats about here, but seems to be limited, but I'm sure they will keep coming on.

Another problem where I am is that its rural, and everyone (including me) hate cats getting the wildlife. So mine would be an indoors cat. I've never thought of that before, but I understand its not uncommon. What do people think?

Neighbours believe cats are wild animals and should be free to roam. Completely stupid views. Cats should be kept in own yard, especially at night. Easy to train. Most rewarding, particularly lap cats. IMHO.

If you have the room (and from the photos you seem to have a bit of space) you could build an outside run for them that was attached to the house so they could go outside when they like but still be enclosed - some enclosures are quite large

Google - outdoor cat enclosure attached to house (make sure it is cat and not cough that you google) because you'll get a lot of different pictures

Tiger?

I've had a look on-line and it seems I'm a bit late to the party (not only for tigers ... cats in general)

Same here, given lack of travel for the foreseeable future and her indoors being on 1 leg, we thought we would try to get a rescue cat, but so far, nothing available through the channels we have tried.

I built an outdoor run that friends used to refer to as "the p u s s y palace". I'll have to find some photos to post.

Hmmm, censorship at work, hence spaces. :)

I have our back yard fenced so the cat cannot escape, well that is rubbish tgh, really.. the cat could escape if he wanted to badly enough.
This cat has been wonderful on many fronts, he is quite happy with the large yard and chooses to stay in.
He is inside at night and sleeps the day in or out as he prefers
I don't "like" keeping them inside always, but agree that they adapt and survive ok

edit...
In normal times easy as to ship you a mogg from paradise to the cooler .. these are not normal times..

I read a book by Dr John Bradshaw (maybe "Cat Sense") which noted a UK study that asked cat owners how did they acquire their cat.

About half the answers were "it just turned up one day, and decided to stay".

@RooFlyer our late cat was an indoors one when we moved from bondi. In hindsight we were so lucky he wasn't hit by a car.
Where we live now he was happily an indoors cat and basically lived upstairs
He was quite a tiny albeit vocal cat. We had kitty litter in one bathroom and downstairs laundry (townhouse here)
Cats are so much more inventive as to where they poop if they are annoyed with their servants :)
