Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

We've been fostering dogs for many years, but earlier this year Karen (aka Mrs 2905) suggested we take on a mother cat and six kittens whose time in the Kempsey pound was just about up. (She knows that I'm more of a cat person than a dog person.) Their DOB is 26/1/2021 (Australia Day), we got them in early March, and here's a photo of them in mid-March.....

And Mum ("Casey").....

Unbeknown to us at the time they came pre-loaded with some sort of feline coronavirus, for which there's no treatment. All you can do is support them through it. So support them we did, but despite Karen's best efforts (she used to be a vet nurse), the little tabby and white guy ("Oscar") didn't make it. It broke our hearts, and I'm tearing up just typing this.

Fast-forward to now and they've been doing well for a good while. One of them ("Mouse") goes to her new forever home later this month. Another ("Gracie") seems destined to become our first feline foster failure. That leaves the only other male kitten ("Tux"), the other two female kittens ("Blaze" and "Shelley"), and the mother cat ("Casey"), looking for forever homes.

An update on the foster kittens....

Some friends of friends came around to see them during the week, and are going to take Blaze. Karen said that she could've rehomed Gracie a hundred times, if we weren't keeping her. She is so chilled and fits in so well with our existing menagerie. Here are a couple of recent photos....

When her personality (if that's the right word for a cat) started to become obvious, I went back and had a closer look at a couple of very early photos that I knew I had taken, but hadn't paid much attention as to which kitten it was. Sure enough, it was Gracie on both counts....

I always said if my commbank shares got to $100, I’d sell them and buy an RS200.

We may however have to sell them and remortgage the house to pay Maxie’s vet bills, sigh.

He has been out of sorts again, not wanting to eat and no poo. Off to the vet, xray shows some blockage and possible inflammation. Operation tonight, if all is well he can come home tomorrow. If there are issues he made need a part of the bowel removed. I’m off to NZ tomorrow, fortunately I’ll only be gone a few days, the boss gets another knee done next week and I had the last of a root canal treatment this morning.
It seems I have 4 canals on that tooth, rather than 3! Aren't I lucky! :)
Won’t bother with a lottery ticket for a while. :)A2F51FC3-B0CE-4C6B-A529-8B203E44E0BF.jpeg26EEF715-E413-4638-90B8-766E1940A0E0.jpeg
Even the boss has said she may have to go back to work. :)
