This is where simpler and fairer is very confusing, because according to this chart: https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dy...rn-categories-for-flights-on-partner-airlines there is no 'discount economy' on CX or KA flights. The lowest is 'economy' and Y class gets 'flexible economy'. At least from 1 December. However... it appears 'economy' and 'discount economy' seem to earn the same SCs anyway - so maybe a moot point.

Agree it is confusing, some airlines use all three categories in Economy (e.g AB) and the difference between Discount Economy and Economy is points earn only, whilst Flexible Economy also earns more SC.

Confusing is as confusing does - however, this only "Y" class being eligible for "Full" or "Flexible" economy earn on international/oneworld partner flights has been a facet of QFF for over a decade. There's many a confused post about the seeming difference in the earning tables.

The anecdotally demonstrated fact is, that unless it's "Y" class, eligible economy travel on oneworld partners earned as "Discount Economy" pre simpler and fairer or "Economy" since.

"L" class will NOT earn as "Flexible Economy".

But this is only true until November 30, my post above was referring to SC earning post-December 1.

The Qantas table has YBHKLMV, but not SNQOG. The $150 return fare is most likely class S or lower. For class L to Fuzhou, it should be roughly $230 AUD, return and 10 SC each way so it's $11.50 per SC.

Since "Simpler and Fairer[SUP]TM[/SUP]" several terms have been redefined; "Flexible Economy" has replaced "Economy", "Economy" has replaced "Discount Economy" and "Discount Economy" has replaced "Deep Discount Economy".

True, I guess I was just trying to say that starting December 1 it will be possible to get what used to be full "Y"-only "Economy" SC on other fare classes on some OW carriers, especially AB and AY adding many fare classes to the"Flexible Economy" category. So a rare "real improvement" in all these changes.

If only Y is considered "Flexible Economy" then perhaps it would be clearer (fairer?) to call it "Full Fare Economy" or something like that to avoid being misleading. It certainly caught me out.

Yes for Cathay and Dragonair, but not for all OW partners. Starting December 1 some partners will have many fare classes earning the equivalent of full fare Y SC under the current system.

Just a heads up for those looking to do some domestic runs QF's new sale up till Nov 16 has some very nice deals - specially in J. eg: MEL-OOL $499, MEL-DRW $769 MEL-ADL $399 o.w. and other variations. Definitely worth looking into for travel > Jan 12th till end of June next year for some decent value. The Y fares are great too, but obviously minimum SC's.

I've read an awful lot on here today and am a bit overwhelmed by it all!

Hi there and welcome to AFF!

Perhaps you could share a little more detail... for example, when do you need the 375 status credit by? Are you planning on travelling overseas at any time before your membership year ends?

If you aren't going to be flying overseas, have you considered whether 'chasing gold' is financially viable? A Qantas Club membership would be cheaper if you are only going to be flying domestically.

My membership anniversary is 29 Feb 2016. I attained silver just a few days ago, Saturday 7.
I would like to visit Singapore before my membership year ends to visit my sister. That, or Anaheim to hit up Disneyland!
