DGMS

There is a benefit living in MEL

MEL-SYD-CHC

Economy flex in one direction and saver in the other: 105SC for $1037. DSC makes it 210SC

Stay overnight

Isn't the earning more like:
MEL-SYD 20
SYD-CHC 40
CHC-SYD 20
SYD-MEL 10

So 90 SC?

I thought that would be the case, thanks for answering so promptly, and its not worth spending those sort of $$ at this stage. I will be in Hawaii in November and might try a PTY or SJU run from there ...at that stage though will need 700 Sc's or thereabouts to requalify from Silver to Gold.

[-]Something like ADL-New Zealand in business is around the $1300 mark, earning a minimum of 240SC base level. Add in some extra cost for positioning.[/-]

sorry that's wrong.

There is nothing wrong getting that evening QF J SYD - CHC if you can afford it.
At least it's 80 QF SC rather than a measles 40.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

On the US domestic again, I know I can go to PTY from west coast at a great $/SC. But I dont want to go to the Caribbean, and prefer to stay on US mainland.

I'm starting from LAS, and need to return to LAX, so both pretty good starting and ending points.

Looking for about 500 SC's. Right now I'm looking thru ORD/BOS to MIA, but can't really get a good deal. USD$1K would be a good target price, all in First / A class fares. Any advice, or is this a pipe dream?

LAS-DFW-ORD-MIA/ORD-SFO is 500 for about $1247 for Sept dates

Medhead,

I have just done a dummy booking and MEL-CHC on the one PNR is 105SC (YFlex+Ysaver). QF gives SYD as a transit stop

How about the current TSV J sale fare? MEL-xBNE-TSV would be 240 SC r/t so 480 with DSC for about $2100 in June.
Another option for 420 SC could be a MEL-SYD-OOL r/t in J for $1358 = 320 SC then combine with say a MEL-BNE in flex Y r/t for another 120 SC (with DSC)
or MEL-ADL J sale at ~$937 r/t for 160 SC, then earn 240 doing a MEL-xBNE-CNS in flex Y for another 240SC with DSC

it's do-able but in oz would cost a fair bit more than in the USA or other places.

Another option could be to price out MEL-xSYD-AKL r/t at around the $1700odd level in J (note no codeshares on EK or LA) 40+80x2=240/480 SC total,
could even go MEL-CHC, then CHC-xSYD-MEL ex-NZ cheaper pricing would make 400 SC(close, but no cigar)

All worth looking at, however DGMS has a budget of $1000
Hi All...I need 420 sc's to retain gold by the end October and have no travel plans prior to that date. I Have the double offer registered so can anyone suggest a 210 SC run for about $1K...or am I dreaming ?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Aplogies - I missed the budget constraint. yeah you won't get 420 for that little outside of the USA sadly :(

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Like others on this forum, today I got a double SC offer from Qantas. The subject is "Take it up a level with DOUBLE Status Credits" so they are using it to dangle the Gold carrot...

I'm currently Silver and have earned 325 SC since August, but wasn't even going to bother making it to SG. Disclaimer: noob question ahead. If I make it to Gold by my anniversary (Aug 2016), I'll enjoy it until Aug 2017 correct?

Any suggestions on a budget-friendly status run from MEL that would earn me 188 credits? I didn't have any travel planned before August but making it to SG could be worth a try.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Hi GNomad:

Yes SG by Aug 2016 and you can bask in gold until Aug 2017

$1750AUD for 195SC via 2 PNR

Going across the "dutch" is one of the international routes where a one way is half a return. Tasmania is the other:lol:

MEL-CHC via SYD J Flex One Way
CHC-MEL via SYD Y Flex one way

In this case its about $9 per SC which is pretty good. Dont expect to get it any cheaper than this. Occasionally $7 per SC during deep discount periods but you wont get DSC then.

I note in another thread you are about to ring the P1 bell again. Well done!

Would you care to share your Sc earning routes?

I priced up ADL-xBNE-AKL return in J today at about $2050. I'll leave it to others to work out the earning. ;)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

This one was posted on FlyerTalk: View image: AY2.

I'm loathe to suggest how many SCs it earns given my poor history using a calculator but I think it's 240, assuming the codeshare flights earn.

Thanks Quickstatus! Not only am I a QFF noob, I'm also a recent transplant to Oz. What is the "dutch"?

hmm I count 140 each way so 280 r/t, 560 with DSC. tasty earn! That's one even the Pooch would wag his tail at I'm sure :)

He's being a bit clever and playing on the NZ kiwi accent for "Ditch" as in the tasman sea.

Anyway I'd think with the current SC offer you can do a r/t MEL-SYD-OOL (Gold Coast) domestic run to earn 160 SC in paid J, which would be 320 doubled for $1358ish at $4.24/SC as I make it :) Saves worrying about dutches, passports and lots of hours in 737's :)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

BNE-SYD-WLG also not too bad at about AUD890 over, AUD770 back (if booked as two one ways). $1660 for 480SCs at $3.45 per SC.

Same day return looks possible on certain days if booked as two one ways...

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Ool-mel-adl j class @593 for 100=200 is the best domestically right now.

WOW, that's a great one! is that a sale fare?

I may have to take advantage of that :D

EDIT: yes, that $593 ($600 ADL-SYD-OOL, but that earns less SC's due to the 40+40, rather than 40+60) is for the May-June Domestic J sale currently on. it's $747ish at other times (not a bad deal either).

good pick up :)

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

G'day folks,

I'm sitting on 635 SC with QF and I'm keen to get to SG before my membership anniversary on May 31. Unfortunately work trips appear to have dried up for me so I'll need to fund it myself on a tight budget. Can't really go through constant SYD>CBR>SYD travel without the QP for another 9 months.

The best option I've found so far is SYD>CHC return for $503 on Red e-Deals which is 20SC each way x2 = 80SC, just over $6/SC. The benefit of this is a weekend in and around Mt Cook National Park for me which is a place i've been keen to go for a while.

I know this is far less complex than some of the exotic options I've seen here, but I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have on a cheaper option.
