Ex-SYD. Currently Gold at 720 SCs.

As described above thread:

go further east "trans-ditch" or non direct hop north to CNS,DRW or HKG
expect to spend $9-10 per SC pre application of DSC
So you need to spend not less than $3k-$3.5k rounded to get to WP

or spend $7.5 -$9.5k Transpacific for 360SC pre DSC

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi everyone - great resource and thanks to AFF and all the contributors.

I'm totally new at this so apologies in advance for asking the painfully obvious.

I'm currently NB, but work will pay for upcoming flight MEL to PRG in J. Travel dates are 12 Jun 2016 - 19 Jun 2016
I'm hoping to max out my SC earn, especially with the current 2SC offer.
What do you suggest is the best routing? The main consideration would be reasonably direct and no big layover. And return flight needs to be as short as possible as back to work ASAP.
Many thanks,
T

Thtan7

assuming it's Prague PRG and not PVG.
If so then you are limited to QF9 or QF Dom to SYD then QF1. These will get you DSC but the EK to PRG and back will not.

See T&C - only QF operated flights...

Most you will get for MEL-SYD-DXB and return is 440 = 880SC with DSC. Comes down to price in the end and what employer is willing to pay. Likely you will be required to fly the cheapest which means direct on QF9 then 360 = 720SC

So the direct will get you to SG = Gold so I would just do the direct.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Depending on how much you want to mess about with short sectors (I'd rather do something more useful), I'd be tempted to do something like:

BNE-CHC (via Syd - F Lounge!)
CHC-BNE

Total ~$667 (round up to avoid things) for 140 SC, booking 'Saver' fare, works out to be 4.8$/SC, can have a night or two across the ditch and a few hours in the FLounge on the way over. Not possible to return in one day, so accommodation would have to be added.

[-]Lots of discussion![/-] All good now.

OOL - ADL return flex in one direction, red-e-deal in the other Approx. $650 for 60SC (x2 =120SC). Or flex both ways for about $850 for 80SC (x2 = 160SC) earn. Relatively short day trip.

Could be cheaper with aquire discount.

Both excellent suggestions. Might see if MrsChooms wants to come with if we get it cheap enough.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Mrs GCC is 170 SC's short of retaining SG by 31/5. Already has 20 SC's worth of flights booked, so looking for a run that will generate 150 SC's with the double SC offer.

She is not one for multiple stops or trips over the dutch, so essentially the cheapest J or Flex fare (relatively) point to point ex SYD that gives 40 SC's is the goal. SYD - OOL is $556 each way in J for at total 80 (x 2 = 160 SC), just wondering if there is anything cheaper I'm missing?

With the restrictive requirements of the Mrs, your selection will be as good as it gets originating from SYD.

The best I have seen is approx $4-$5 per SC after DSC applied. Yours is about $7
The best require a trans-ditch flight or a 2 hop to CNS,DRW,HKG

All this has been reiterated upthread

Thought I would play it safe and avoid incurring the mods' wrath by posting here rather than the 'overview' thread.

Anyone have any recent experience with the same-day SYD-xBNE-TSV return run? I did a dummy booking with QF970 on the outbound and QF971 on the inbound, and got the following:

I did this run two years ago the connection was allowed back then - anyone know if the flights have been re-scheduled or the minimum connection time has been increased? Since I am fairly sure they just turn around the same plane and send it back to Brisbane, I think I will just book two one-way tickets.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I've been out of the status run game since the change of not being able to use J Any Seat Awards at classic level prices. What the next best SYD-BNE-TSV prior run? From memory it gave a nice little SC kicker. I'd love to keep Gold but looks like I might be renegaded this year :(

Was hopeful there might be runs to be had for <$3K. medhead had posted earlier a suggestion for ADL-BNE-AKL nested within SYD-ADL which comes out at ~$3.1K.

Yes there are better options some even as low as $2 per SC pre DSC. However you are in the wrong country and all flights within the US are not QF operated (so no DSC, not that you will need it at that price) except the transcontinental QF11/12. SYD-JFK is about $5 per SC after DSC

SYD-xBNE-TSV in J these days yields 80 SCs one-way, currently on sale for $699 - so $4.4/SC with the double status credits offer.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

The $699 SYD-BNE-TSV (business sale) fare ends today.

Edit: If the SYD-BNE-CNS (40+60)(i.e., 200SC with double SC) is $949, it's about $4.75/SC

I'm 160SCs short of retaining SG this year. With the DSC, I only need 80SCs. What is a good run with BNE as the start/end point?

I thought about BNE-OOL one way in J, but that is about $8/SC. BNE-TSV rtn in J is worse.

BNE-HKG return is 80SC if you buy a nondiscount Y (Y saver)
