re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi Everyone I'm 240SCs short of SG this year and based in Thailand for the next few months. Looking for any suggestions out of BKK possibly with MH that will put me within range. Don't mind doing overnight as I don't have any time constraints.

Thanks in advance.

I think BKK-KUL-MNL with MH in J has been discussed as a cheap option that gets that amount of SCs. Might need more than 1 night stay tho - worth checking out.

Any destination from KUL which is more than 750 miles and has a reasonable Z class fare exBKK (with KUL connection) will work. I've used CMB in the past.

Happy wandering

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi,

As someone who's totally new to the concept - I am currently silver and need 335 SC to get to gold. What would be the cheapest option (and by the way, how the heck do you guys find these things?) given my anniversary date in end of May?

Thanks

edit: doh! I'm in MEL

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

MEL has some of the better SR:

MEL-SYD-CHC//CHC-SYD-MEL (one way in J and the other in YFlex,) = 120+60 =180. Add DSC = 360

MEL-OOL (J)//OOL-MEL-ADL (J)//ADL-MEL (YFlex) = 60+100+20 = 180. Add DSC = 360.

Check price. Anything less than $4-$5 per SC (with DSC) is good value.

I would do MEL-SYD-OOL in flex J ($720) OOL-SYD-MEL in J ($680) = 170SC with double = 340 for $1500ish
do not forget to register first for the offer

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

ADL-BNE-AKL is 280SC per DSC. I had a price around $2050 for next weekend.
There must be cheaper ways (than $1000) to pick up another 60SC. What about one way flights on red-e-deals SYD-MEL, MEL-ADL and return? Or just thought a couple of cheapie returns from SYD, plus red-e-deals SYD-ADL return. It's does require extra flying, as a negative.
Looking at that right now for a separate run to keep Platinum in year 2. Does anyone have suggestions for any particularly good runs ex-SYD for 60 SCs (pre-DSC)?

Could go to e.g. CNS in Flex Y for 30 SCs each way. 60 SCs total (120 with DSC bonus). Going via BNE would be a bit more expensive but would lead to getting even more SCs.

Hmm I could go via BNE on a red e-deal and it would actually turn out cheaper than flying direct, earning 50 SCs (pre-DSC).

Still open to other suggestions.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Ok so work has ended my need to be in Melbourne, so I am currently looking for 185SC from Canberra. I can bus to Sydney and potentially do a run from there. Any ideas? I know fares out of Canberra are not ideal but there's an additional 6 hours on a weekend wasted getting to/from sydney to consider.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Any bright ideas for a status run costing $2000-3000 from PER?
My credit card isn't quite ready to book J to Europe via SYD/MEL during the double SC offer.

You didn't mention how many SCs you are after.

As many as I can get for $2000-$3000!
I still need 1160 this status year so the more the better.
J return PER-SYD-DXB-LHR-CDG would do it with the promotion but I won't be able to put that on the credit card until next month!

So far the best I can come up with is PER-(SYD/MEL/BNE)-AKL return.

Is that itinerary within the $2-3k budget you have set?

I think the point of the request is the poster can't afford the PER-CDG flight during the DSC period. Hence looking for an alternative at a $2K to $3K level...

That's it exactly!

I read it as 'my budget is $2-3k. This itinerary would give me the SCs I need but I cannot put it through my credit card this month. Hence I'm looking into cheaper options before the DSC finishes'.

I thought the $2-3k was referring to the budget in total; I see now that it is the budget available during the DSC promotion.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

If you can position cheaply to JNB, there are some good RT fares JNB-SYD-PER Combination of J and standard PEY (books into I Oz domestically - sale PEY does not) Should up to 960 SC after doubling for roughly AU$3K.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

H all as first time poster its going to sound a lazy question, however can someone suggest the most economic way from 0-platinum using the current DSC offer. I am not phased about the 3~ as I already have these but only 30SC, I will have lots of travel in next 2 years, however all economy.
happy to go almost anywhere and can spend few days (Ihad quick trawl thru forums but could not see a simple definitive answer
