It was in regards to Zimzims own spreadsheet calculation for the lowest $ per SC.

Because they wrote "Auk"?

Given they also wrote "Sing" and "Taipei" it was fairly clear they weren't attempting to use airport codes in my view.

really you need to provide context with your responses. Do you not know how to use "Reply with Quote"?

is that too much to ask?

Take it easy big fella. I know Pooch's posts can take some deciphering but there's no need to be abrupt so.

rambling, context less, disruptive posts full of extraneous information can be rather frustrating at times.

but on the other hand, what can you do? Take the good with the bad, I suppose.

My paologies to all. I was trying to be constructive but yes, frustrated too.

(You don't want to know some other posts I have deleted in the recent past :p )

anyway.

there's a current J sale fare to AUK(I mean AKL) that started today. $659 onw way. I haven't checked for ex-AKL pricing.

It only seems to be to AKL - at least from MEL. possibly useful for the double SCers

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

For those people who are looking for big numbers or have a little more in the budget and can handle longhaul Y, the best bet is to take a Y flight to LAX or HNL and then do the run from there.

SYD-LAX is $1113 and give you 90 SC before the DSC. PER-MEL-LAX-SYD-MEL is $1236 and 130 SC. You can easily tack on LAX-PTY or some of the other fun routings from there.

BNE-HNL is currently $3586 for 360SC. With DSC thats under $5/SC and great start to a run. Y is down to $847 (eg 30/05-05/06) for 90SC. 180SC for $4.70 with DSC.

NB. Many of the cheap Y flights to LAX are on AA metal with QF codes, so you can't upgrade them.

At least BNE/SYD/MEL - AKL on QF or LAN 789 (from SYD). About $50 more to fly on EK.

Add on the current AKL-SYD F flight for $835 and and you end up with 200SC for $1495. With the DSC, it is 400SC @ $3.74/SC. Pretty nice for a Emirates F leg.

Emirates flights don't qualify for DSC.

Select AA flights to/from the US are the only non-QANTAS operated ones that qualify. Have another look at the T&Cs.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hadn't checked for a current F fare sale ex-NZ which are always good for short hop indulgences, DSC or no :)

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I'm not good with T&C's so can someone interpret for me. I have a J booking to NZ on a sale fare that I booked during a 50% SC bonus offer. If I cancel and re-book with the current NZ J sale would I get the double SC's or does this line in the T&C's rule me out. I'm guessing so, but not certain:

"If you qualify for multiple offers, the offer first-registered for will be applied to each individual qualifying segment."

And if so, it means I'll now need a spreadsheet of what offers I have current. It also makes me wonder if the 50% bonus was actually the first one I registered for. If I don't get at least the 50% SC bonus I'll have a lot of explaining to do with Mrs H!

If the qualifying period for the 50% offer has ended then a completely new booking will be eligible for the Double SC offer. I'm not sure about the implications of cancelling a booking and then possibly using the credit to re-book. There may be some link to the date of that original booking that could invalidate the current double SC offer. If you can get a refund of the old fare and then make a brand new booking, provided the 50% SC booking period is over, then you should get Double SC.

Had my status credit tally reset on 30 April. Glad to have maintained Gold. Another 12 months to requalify.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Just posted this in the DSC forum but thought I should add it here too as it's one of the best value run's I've found locally.

AKL-SYD-HTI earns 140SC (doubled to 280SC) currently available for NZD$807 (approx AUD$747) or $2.67 per SC
HTI-MEL-AKL earns 140SC (doubled to 280SC) currently available for AUD$820 or $2.93 per SC

So all up 560SC for about AUD$1567 - or $2.79 per SC, not a bad deal at all so close to home!

AKL-SYD-MCY and return is also a good earner at 120 each way (before doubling) and is about $100 cheaper (return)

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi guys,

Just found out that I will be 5(!) SC's short of achieving Silver for the first time ever. Membership year is 30 June and I have two trips booked in which will take me to 295 SC. I have booked flights with QF in the next membership year, do you think I should contact Qantas to see if they can get me through? If so what is the best channel to do this?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

As a first time QF PS achiever, I would fly 2 x 10 SC eligible flight routes.
If I were in your shoes.
I am 2nd year SG sitting at 470 QF SC with firm bookings making up to 550 SC and they have not comp me, yet/even.

Nice!

For anyone considering AKL-SYD-MCY, be careful not to book a codeshare flight SYD-MCY operated by JQ (even if it has a QF number, JQ operated flights are not eligible for DSC).

Cheers mate. Actually, how do I check to see if I booked a normal Y or a sale Y ticket? If the latter former then I'm safe.

I wouldn't chance it.
