re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

if I were to book a companion seat anyone know if I would get dsc on it ?

Assuming you mean "comfort seat" (in QF terminology), it doesn't look like it, as according to the T&Cs "Only one double Status Credits offer can be used per individual qualifying segment of your itinerary."

That condition is not related to the question. It means you can't get 4xSC by loading 2 offers. Buying a comfort seat would only be 1 DSC offer.

My take, without specifically checking the T&Cs is that a comfort seat will earn doubleSC.

Cheers mate. Actually, how do I check to see if I booked a normal Y or a sale Y ticket? If the latter former then I'm safe.

Go into the booking on the Qantas website. Look at the Flight details, expand the list and look for a single letter fare class in brackets. Then cross reference the booking class with this table to see if it is flex or Red-e-deal https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/f...-categories-for-flights-on-qantas-and-jetstar

Basically Flex is B H K M Y

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi guys,

Just found out that I will be 5(!) SC's short of achieving Silver for the first time ever. Membership year is 30 June and I have two trips booked in which will take me to 295 SC. I have booked flights with QF in the next membership year, do you think I should contact Qantas to see if they can get me through? If so what is the best channel to do this?

I'd think the chances of that being successful are pretty much zero. In fact I wouldn't even bother to contact QF. If Silver is important to you book a flight to get the required SC in your membership year.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I am 2nd year SG sitting at 470 QF SC with firm bookings making up to 550 SC and they have not comp me, yet/even.

And under the much discussed "3 year rule" there's no reason WHY QF would gift you another year of status you just achieved without you flying the appropriate number (600) of SC's to reattain Gold.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

As a first time QF PS achiever, I would fly 2 x 10 SC eligible flight routes.
If I were in your shoes.

AP I agree. There would be no reason whatsoever for QF to award the OP PS or you SG with a below level SC earning.
For clarity in the thread it would be awfully helpful if you quoted the post that you are replying to.

Why would you go and get 20 SC when you're only 5 short? 1x 10 SC will be enough, then get home the cheapest way (or vice versa). If the cheapest way earns another 10, then that's great, but I wouldn't go out and look for 2x 10.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Ended up doing a re-calculation of how many SCs I actually need to re-qualify for WP. I only needed 90SCs.

All booked for BNE-CNS-BNE tomorrow (one leg Red e-Deal, one Flexi) and catching up with a mate for lunch. Normally 45SCs... cheers QF for the Double SCs up to 90!

In total, flights cost me $291.01 with an SC earn of 3.2Scs per dollar. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned!

I might even do a quick TR for it...

OT, but here is the TR for the SC run I did. There is some consternation as to whether I will get double SC's as I used a cancelled flight voucher as part of the fare. I am awaiting confirmation from QF.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

I may be mistaken but I have not seen these BA flights mentioned.

www(dot)britishairways(dot)com/travel/low-price-finder/public/en_au?refevent=MAY16FINDALL# (Because it is my first post I cannot do a link)

[h=1]Our cheapest fares from London in Business/Club[/h]
The Europe page has a daytrip to Madrid in Business for GBP240 each way ~AUD960 for a return trip which generates 120 SC - $8 per SC - not very good.
But if you select 14 days the prices reduces to GBP115 for a July trip ~AUD460 which is reduced to 3.833 per SC which is not too bad if you can't do a US SC run.
I have not checked out the other possible days from 2-13. Nor have I checked other destination/time combinations.

So if you are going to be in Europe it might pay to check these out.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Just finished my SYD-MEL-LST rtn SC run ($158 for 40 SCs) on Sunday and felt it was a good deal. Managed to have a few hours in LST and did the James Boag beer lovers experience/tour and had lunch. The tour was great and was well worth every dollar as they have a beer tasting and cheese at the end of the tour.

Do you still get 60 SC's on BA each way post-simpler-and-fairer?

Do you still get 60 SC's on BA each way post-simpler-and-fairer?

The QFF calculator on qantas.com generates 60SC for the combination [LHR-MAD + BA + Business]. You could check directly with Qantas but I believe the answer will remain the same

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I need 5 SC's to attain Silver, should I just do a cheap $100 Jetstar run?

Yep just do a quick JQ trip. Make sure you book the correct pack to get SC and don't do a price match to get it cheaper. Depending on where you are based you might be able to quick QF run for similar $$$

SYD - OOL return is $79 return plus add a starter pack to one of the trips. Need the 5 SC's by 30 June.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

JQ do cancel some flights though. Take a look at the JQ cancellation thread.
Personally I would go QF.
