Thank you all.
Seems like I'm roughly on the right track - a little more research then time to lock something in.
Would still welcome any more tips / advice especially route suggestions ex-NY for 600SC.

600sc for $1500 is very good, doubt you'll find much better but do share it if you do! I got 690 for $1200 but that is ex LAX and in July.

Maybe also check out BOG, PTY and UIO as destinations? Happy hunting, and have a great trip.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hey all, priced some up today, can do the following - LAX-xPHX-xJFK-DCA-xMIA-PTY-xMIA-JFK-xCLT-xPHX-LAX for $1739AUD - you can then add on MEL-LAX return for around $1000 in November, routing through SYD if you enjoy the ride!

So in total for around $2700, you can get your 4 qf segments, and 870SC!

Another which opens up the Jetstar routing is HNL-xLAX-xJFK-DCA-xMIA-PTY-xMIA-JFK-LAX-HNL for$2340 - this will net you around 930SC

This was all priced around November travel dates.

$2-$3/sc is good bang for buck!

If you're flexible with dates, November looks quite good indeed:

LAX-PTY-nov.jpg

770SCs for $869.76 USD ($1203.19 AUD at today's exchange rate). Which works out at $1.55/SC AUD, and has same day turnaround in PTY.

Adding 2 nights of accommodation, not sure it's such a great deal, but a good find all the same.

Personally I turn these into holidays with overnight stays along the way and a stay in pty. Theres great 5 star hotels at great prices in pty

Or for the slightly more insane of you, November has some good routing for HNL-PTY, and this weekend is quite cheap due to Thanksgiving.

14 segments
1040 SC's
$1.80 AUD per:

Does require 6 overnight stays though.

I am glad you said 'more' insane. I thought I was stretching it with my 11 sector trip next month.

(but I will file it away for future reference, just in case)

The +1 doesn't really need any status at all, if 100% of her flights will be with you. Your WP status will provide the lounge/flight benefits for you and the +1.

Although some airport fast track security is only for the status holder if in y.

Maybe I have been lucky. Mention the same PNR/itinerary/family, and I've never had a knock-back. And that includes the USA. Touch wood.

Is 34 minutes (2:01 - 2:35pm) a long enough connection time at CLT, even if I am one of the first off?

If you can book it on the one ticket you are protected. If worst comes to worst AA may re-route you and/or downgrade you if you miss the connection but you can claim original routing credit through QFF for the ticket booked.
