Mrscove has close to zero interest in Facebook,You Tube, Linked In,HFC,FFA,Reddit and lots of other things. She does look at Twitter just to check what our sons are saying.
All I need is a magic wand to pull a double status credit offer for her seeing she is just under half way to P1.

Keep up the magic, Cove, and the closer the Tesla gets .

JohnM the Tesla shop is about 10 minutes away from home when we are in Los Angeles.
The problem of getting a Tesla there is we would have nowhere near the nicest car in the parking garage.
We had a new Black Rolls Royce parked next to our Argus sourced hire car last time we were there.
The $1.3 million Bugatti has been hard to upstage.

Pffft - it's the Tesla in PER that interests me, Cove ;).

I guess we could air freight it in.

My 1987 Volvo is feeling well loved when it considers all the options I keep getting presented by the other members...

And with the AA first class domestic segments seemingly headed for the archives, I guess the excitement of 2017 will be QR between DOH and CAI...

Happy wandering

JohnM I have a friend who has one and the build quality on his Tesla was not proving to be a winner. The latest ones may be better so air freight might get you some frequent flyer points.

There is a discounted business class for bookings by October 13th where I saw you could get 240 status credits for about $2400 by going PER-ADL-MEL and return. Is there something better?

Sure. Just not in Perth. Bangkok or Colombo are both closer than LAX...

The current Qantas offer is on domestic business class flights so that is why I was wondering. We are going overseas in December, March and May and we avoid humidity.

Hi Dudditz
I'm looking at booking this to get me back to Platinum - Gold is no use to me as I have a lifetime Qclub membership. I need PLATINUM!!!!
With a slight change as I will be flying from HNL - LAX - ORD - OMA - DFW - PHX - HNL
It will take 2 days overnight LAX - ORD
I can do it in Y for $1098USD or J for $2307 USD
It will be horrible I know.
How do I work out SC's earned though - the AA site doesnt seem to give this information although I have not paid for flights yet?

Thanks for any help you can give me. I

You work out status credits by using the Qantas status credits calculator https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/do/dyns/initialPointsEarned (make sure you switch from QF to AA after you put in the to/from cities) or if it fails you then use the earn table https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/flying/airline-earning and Flight Distance Calculator - tedious but it will give you the answers you need.

Do not do in Y and make sure the 'J' actually books into F.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Has anyone done a transit SC/MR run in CAI?

QR currently have CMB-DOH-CAI-DOH-CMB for around NZD$1000 which earns 460SC's. A very nice NZD$2.17/SC. The inbound flight to CAI gets in at 16:45 with the outbound departing at 19:10 (all on on QR issued ticket and itinerary). I've read that in CAI they have a transit desk where you can pick up the BP, clear transit security and then go back to departure area. Can anyone confirm this is correct and I won't have to clear immigration and check-in again (and likely endure a grilling)?

Having just booked a transit into CAI to connect with a DONEx, I asked the question in the Qatar thread on FT.
The short answer is with checked luggage - no - hand luggage only - maybe.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I've looked at this QR CMB-DOH-CAI_DOH-CMB route. It does look great. The DOH-CAI leg books into first so it's a great earner. I'm having trouble finding an economic way of getting from PER-CMB though.

Have you actually looked? PER-KUL-CMB on AirAsia can be had for around AUD $220 oneway on multiple dates across the next couple of months. I'd say that's pretty economical. Took <2 minutes to find. Fares back to Australia ex CMB, well the world is your oyster.

Edit: I should have spent longer than 2 minutes looking... Can actually be had for AUD $183 on some days.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

CMB-CAI does look good. Are you guys comfortable doing multiple SC runs to CAI? The Mrs isn't too convinced. I was planning to book a couple BKK-ICN runs in the couple weeks.

Thanks for that

I've read online that the process should be simple - visit the transit desk for your BP's for CAI-DOH-CMB, clear security and head to departures. But as with all these things, just seeing if anyone on here as experience doing this. I'll be HLO and it's all on one ticket and can be booked on QR website so they are happy with it, but I just worry about these things.
